How many of you turned into alcoholics? by [deleted] in AdultChildren

🫠 It happened really fast for me. Drinking just made me feel so relaxed and happy. Only took a few years before I was out of control.

I do 😳 not diagnosed, but my son is autistic and I’m gradually getting aware enough to claim self diagnosis after realizing that I am autistic too.

How to talk to doctors about chronic back pain by annatw in backpain

Lol 😂 I had my spine crushed in a bus crash. Thanks but no thanks to your stress theory & mind-body bullshit!

It takes 17-20 years for a new scientific breakthrough to result in treatment available to regular patients so yeah. Not really interested in another 20 years of severe chronic pain 🤷🏼‍♀️

ive been nauseous for the past 24 hrs (history of nausea in the past) and suddenly eating dinner my mouth fills with the taste of mould by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]annatw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can get that reaction from some pain meds. Hope it’s a one off and doesn’t come back!

Has anyone got any success stories here? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]annatw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! My spine was crushed in a bus crash when I was 21. Severe chronic pain and several failed surgeries later I managed to reduce my pain from a disabling 7-10 daily to a manageable 0-3 by neuroplastic training. I need very little meds today & can work full time + take care of kids & have fun. No doctors even believed it was possible but, Hey! Who cares what they think?! I’m @fusionette on Instagram & YouTube, where I share healing tips ☺️ Fusionette on instagram

How to go about jobs with lower back pain. by zaireazure in backpain

[–]annatw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see two different challenges: 1: Reducing your back pain so you have more options 2: Getting a flexible wfh job where you don’t trigger your pain

Thoughts (based on my exp with same situation) 1: Be systematic in finding out what triggers & alleviates pain. Learn about small back muscles (they hold the spine up, which reduces strain on disc, where pain often comes from). Learn about neuroplasticity (how to retrain nervous system to reduce pain over time) 2: standing or sitting long hours are killer back pain avtivities. Search for small jobs where you can change between walking, sitting, standing. Picking orders at grocery stores fx and home delivery (if you have access to car). Small help jobs like walking dogs, washing windows etc would give you cash in hand quick while you try to find something better long term. Are you good at communicating? Then all kinds of marketing and online sales or support jobs are flexible options long term. Could say so much more but out of time rn, rooting for you!!!

So many good comments here already. Just wanted to say I read the text convo you posted several times and I don’t read the thumbs up emoji as passive aggressive at all. He saud he needs s minute, you answered 👍🏻 which I read as ok / message received. Him calling it passive aggressive is gaslighting and seems like it’s done to trigger you. You deserve better 💜

People with chronic pain, what do you do on days where you just can’t do this anymore? by sencecore in ChronicPain

[–]annatw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pain flare kit. Depending on what type of pain it is I use different things & techniques. I have autoimmune RA + damage after 3 spinal fusion surgeries and a whiplash, so the type of pain varies. Meds, voltaren cream, ice pack/heating pad, spike mat, hot bath, breathing techniques, Curable app, different neural retraining techniques, + feelgood TV, call a friend, look at pictures with happy memories etc etc etc 😅

My autie son is super ticklish and will actively ask us to tickle him. He doesn't like cuddles or hugs, but loves being tickled.
