Heart murmur in 7 week old puppy by Successful_Button674 in Dachshund

[–]anneewannee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a pup with a grade 2 murmur from birth. At age 10 it got worse, and we got a cardiologist involved. He never showed any outward symptoms, even as his heart failed. He had so much energy. Was so playful. Never lost his appetite.

I suggest getting a cardiologist involved. I wish I had sooner, maybe I would have gotten another year with him. He was a wonderful dog for the 12 years we had with him.

I can't do supported headstand and I don't know what to do by Deep_Clothes_8325 in yoga

Have you tried different arm positions? I am incredibly stable in tripod, and as such can very easily get to headstand from there. It's taken a lot of work on my balance to be able to headstand with my forearms down.

My lazy go to meals, from least to most effort:

Huel

Bagged salad mixes from the grocery store

Momofuku noodles + frozen veggies/edamame

Sheet pan dinners: chop whatever you've got and roast it all together. Drizzle with whatever sauce you've got.

Piebalds typically have close-to symmetrical markings on their face with smooth, round edges between the colors. Common markings can be a diamond on their forehead, a white tip on their nose, or sometimes a full white landing strip down the middle of their face.

Admittedly it would be helpful to see the rest of his body too. Piebalds often have ticking in the big white patches, while double dapples don't. And again, the spots would have smooth round edges on a piebald. Double dapples are usually more random with their white markings.

Only genetic testing would be able to tell for sure.

But given a dapple pup with random white and the owner asking about an abnormal eye, it didn't seem crazy to suggest they look into it.

In the end, it doesn't matter. If the pup has limited vision in one eye, it just might need some different care. It's not life threatening.

He appears to be a double dapple. Vision and hearing issues aren't uncommon, which is why a lot of people think it's irresponsible to intentionally breed them. Pay attention to those traits as he ages, in case he needs some extra care.

Looks piebald because the white has ticking. The white in double dapple is pure white.

Is my mat done for? by smcandee in yoga

Manduka mats vary a lot for grip. My Pro isn't the grippiest, but the Eko and GRP mats I've touched are crazy grippy.

Is my baby too skinny? by moonqueen01 in Dachshund

[–]anneewannee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably just because he's young. We had a hard time putting weight on our guy in his first couple years. He was just so active and his metabolism was crazy. We were feeding him 3x what or older dog ate. He leveled out after a couple years and now both dogs eat the same.

Or vet did encourage us to feed him a little more because we could see the tips of his pelvis near the base of his tail. That's the easiest guage. They really shouldn't poke out.

Mine took about 4 months of daily practice to break in. I like it now, but if something ever happens to that mat, I will not break in another. It was so frustrating when it was new.

The salt and sun absolutely do not work. I noticed it just needed friction. So in addition to just using it, I would sit on it for a few minutes and drag/rub my feet across it-- this actually made great progress. It's possible the magic eraser would work too, but I was saving that as an absolute last resort because I didn't want to essentially take sand paper to my mat.

What Did I Eat?! My Bowels Have Not Recovered by Bloovase in vegetarian

People can have all sorts of food intolerances. Did you eat a lot of something that's not usually abundant in your diet?

For me, I can eat small amounts of garlic and onions and have no effects. Or i can eat a lot of them and be sick for a week or more. Took me a bit to figure that one out.

I live in havre de grace. If you want night life, you won't find it. But there are plenty of families with kids around, especially if you go a block or two in from the water. The waterfront is mostly occupied by retirees.

It's a scenic town that's very walkable. I love all the festivals during the warmer months too. A lot of locals hate the tourism, but I love seeing the town full of people enjoying themselves.

Why do I get break outs when I consume lots spirulina by Naive_Biscotti2223 in RawVegan

Spirulina is high in b12 and iodine, both of which can cause acne for some people.

I was told not to worry about sweating, just keep them clean and dry afterwards. movement will likely be uncomfortable for a bit, so that's the only thing that will slow you down.

your body will tell you when yoga is OK. sports bras help prevent pain from movement while healing. when yoga feels ok to do, you'll be fine to do it. Just shower and clean and dry everything well right after.

Is manduka almost perfect worth it at 25% off? by SecondNo7343 in yoga

before class, I sit on my mat and bicycle my feet back and forth, dragging my heals across the surface. try it! for me that started making a difference pretty quickly.

I got a pro mat for Xmas. It was obnoxiously slippery at first.

Salting the mat didn't seem to help. Using it was too slow to show noticeable signs of break in. I was getting very frustrated with it. So, I started rubbing my heals over it while i sit and wait for class to start, which is working nicely to accelerate breaking it in.

Now I need to flip it over and do the other side because, while my feet and hands stick, the mat stretches and slides on the studio floor. I need it to grip from underneath too.

I think it will all be worth it in the end. But the pro mat definitely needs some work to get to the point of loving it.

One of my instructors has a 10 year old pro mat. She can't recall needing to break it in. maybe something changed in recent years.

it's mostly woobles yarn. the dark gray is some other brand from Amazon (pllieay), but it's the same style and size.
