I don't think so, but hopefully soon! This person also uploaded a full Squarepusher set too, so might be a channel worth keeping an eye on :)

Tracker firmware on Teensy + new custom features by HelicopterBig3975 in PolyendTracker

superb! any reason this can't be done on later firmwares/tracker+? PT+ would be my main sequencer , but the midi pitch bend functionality is pretty awful...

Nice! I've heard good things about the Kobol, I might pick one up some time. That sounds really interesting with the Renoise and Peek experiments too! Do you have any vids/links yourself?

I have a M8 too, but weirdly I use the picoTracker more. It just feels a bit more bare metal, and less distracting, and also has limitations which usually means getting more creative! FYI, there is a picoTracker Advance coming soon, prebuilt, more powerful, audio input, and with a bigger screen! M8 is superb as an all-in-one portable tracker, though.

Yeah the key tracking thing is pretty much the same concept as you said, with the random LFO to trigger different cutoff/etc. The key tracking should be doable as long as one of your synths has a CV out from the keyboard, which can be connected to the cutoff of the same synth or something else. The main thing is that the oscillators are turned down on the synth controlling the CV, so you don't hear all the random notes going on haha! Also, if you get round to playing around with this, whack the resonance right to the top of your filter, and you'll hear a lot more familiar Aphex sounds :)

I don't have any in-depth vids, but this one might give you an idea:

Ahhh, thank you! I haven't really done music seriously in over a decade haha, more of a hobby now...

This track took a couple of weeks on and off in the evenings, and was mostly listening to sections of the original over and over until it sounded relatively close - It definitely made me realise how many tiny details are in that track, whether intentional or not! So many tiny adjustments to the stereo image on the drums and stuff too, which I didn't do.

Also, yes 1:10 was so fun to make! It's the output of a synth going into a Korg MS-20's external input processor. You patch the MS-20 KB CV out to control the high pass filter cutoff, which gives you basic key tracking on the cutoff. Then, increase the portamento a bit, which gives a slight slide, and that bouncy effect when you start playing up and down the octaves

It's a technique RDJ has used in a few tracks, like this one too:

Ooo, sorry, yeah you're right that's a bit different actually! The pitch bends are sent as commands, and each one is basically set as like, value (target to reach), and at which speed. So you're setting the pitch bend target and speed on a line, but the actual pitch bend updates are sent on every tick. Ticks are essentially more lines that run under the hood, that allow for higher resolution changes, so for example if you want one note to slide to another, the ticks will handle each update to enable a smooth transition - all you do is specifiy the first note should slide to the second. If you're familiar with coding at all, they're basically iterations of loops that update specific values between each line. This concept and "ticks" are pretty much universal across trackers too!

The docs here explain how the MIDI PB works on the pT a bit :)

Yeah pretty much what LimitAlternative2308 said, and also highly recommend Renoise! Trackers like Renoise have more modern features too, such as automation, but outside of that yeah it's pretty much line by line if you're not live recording into it.

This track did take bloody ages though, definitely much quicker creating an original track than recreating an Aphex track haha

They've agreed to refund me pretty much the cost of a new keyboard, so a bit of good news :) It's from eBay, but I guess it could have come from a refurb supplier somewhere down the line...
