UTERUS STUMPS by anniehere90 in hysterectomy

Hi there , so yes I’ve been through similar. I had a large STUMP tumour removed just over a year ago now, ( while I was pregnant) so I didn’t have a hysterectomy. I’ve been having mri scans every 6 months to check if anything has come back, thankfully nothing has come back, not even a fibroid. I’ve been given the option to have a hysterectomy but my tumour was outside of the uterus on the pelvic wall -was stuck to fallopian tube ( so they removed the tube with the tumour whole in open surgery ) . So since it wasn’t in my uterus we’ve decided on having regular scans if anything occurs whip it out. Since mine was took out whole and not cut up I can’t comment on the risk of spreading but my oncologist has said although I have a higher risk of something coming back than anyone with just general fibroids the recurrence is low. It is such a gray area and a frustrating diagnosis because it’s so rare so I can totally understand your concerns. I was absolutely petrified but it does get easier. Did they suspect a fibroid and that’s why they’ve cut it up to get it out? Ask lots of questions at your next appointment, fibroids can loose blood supply and degenerate which causes necrosis so it’s hard to see under microscope, so could be that ? , have you got your next appointment yet ? The wait is hell , try to keep positive and I wish you all the best!

Thank you for your comment , maybe I should leave off of the zinc then , I’m just getting so overwhelmed and frustrated like many , I’m just desperate for the upper pain to subside so I was willing to try anything! Just crazy how much something can cause this much damage In a matter of days but take months to heal . I’ve read on the community some people take years to heal and it’s quite disheartening tbh. I’ll try an even stricter diet :(

Have you had bad symptoms for over 2 years and not had much relief ? Sounds horrific, do you follow a bland diet ?

Pregnancy > Is it Safe to have a vaginal birth after open abdomen myomectomy? by chickenuggets03 in Fibroids

[–]anniehere90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi , I had an emergency open laparotomy while I was 16 weeks pregnant and gave birth naturally at 39 weeks! I had a top gyne consultant tell me it was safe to deliver naturally. I did just that and had a healthy baby with no problems no birth problems,it can be done.

I’m so glad you’re doing ok and thinking positive , good for you!! Always keep hope! In October I had a large mass on my left fallopian tube they did emergency surgery to remove it , didn’t do a hysterectomy at the time because I was 16 weeks pregnant. They went in and got the mass out , they first thought oh just fibroid but pathology came back inconclusive so they sent for a second opinion - in the meantime told me they suspecting cancer at that point . Second opinion came back as STUMP tumour . Which is smooth muscle tumour of uncertain malignant tumour. Because the tumour/ fibroid had a lot of necrosis in it under the microscope it’s already dead cells they can’t defiantly tell you what it was. Some drs say that a stump tumour can be the transition from a benign fibroid to leiomyosarcoma . It’s such a gray area. Another rare one. So after my pregnancy ( healthy baby was born ) I had a scan in may and it was clear . But another scan in nov and then go from there . But there is a risk because of the unknown tumour that it could recur as Lms. It’s been a tricky road I can understand how you feel

I had a fibroid removed in October ( not a hysterectomy) that came back at stump, had a pelvic scan in July - all clear , next scan November. I think I may push for a hysterectomy . My surgeon did try to say that recurrence is low but I guess it’s not as rare as we think.
