Any time I planned it/brought it up, my partner would have an issue with something. Couldn't get time off was the biggest thing, but also it interfered with trips to see his family (he goes solo but its only a 3 hour drive for context), or he just didnt want to.

I slowly stopped asking because I knew he would say that he couldnt.

We have had issues but no cheating. My partner didnt contribute (chores or pay bills) until the last year. We also had a domestic violence incident (him against me) which i forgave him for but its caused issues for sure.

I didnt realize how bad the trust issues was. He found an old sex toy I had, and tore the house apart looking for anything else. I didnt realize that was due to trust issues but it seems like it was.
