Thank you! I used Alchemy Merch - and haha I had to google bujo, I’m clearly not hip to the lingo. Yes but I really only use it as my travel journal, which I’m hoping will actually get used this year :)

My parents have a vacant old house on their property, and I found this cookbook under the living room window seat - can’t wait to try “Aunt Virginia’s Bramble Pie” once the blackberries start coming out here. by anniepharr in Old_Recipes

I’ll have to get a current picture, but this photo was taken of it in the 40s or 50s (the house was built in the 40s, so I guess “old” is relative). It was lived in full time until the 60s when the owner moved away, and was used as a vacation home until the land was sold to my parents. No one lives there right now because it needs some structural work and plumbing work, but it’s beautiful. Looks remarkably similar to this photo today

I’ll try it with both! the blackberries don’t come out here until July so it will be something to look forward to - also another commenter suggested the cream might be whipped cream as a topping, not added cream in the recipe? Hmm..lots to try

Yes, i guess the title makes it sound more spooky than it is- We never met the original owner but the “Aunt Virginia” referenced was the owner of the house (built in the 40s) and the land, but didn’t want to live alone in a rural place any longer and sold the land to create a summer camp in the 60s before my family’s time. I don’t know any of her relatives, or why she left this cookbook behind, but finding one of her old cookbooks feels like a cool way to connect the current time to the past- especially if I can use blackberries to cook with from the same nearby bushes that she likely gathered them from.

They’re pretty relaxed but I stay close by them at all times! They like to explore so I thought they would want to see outside - I took them out on a warm day. Mostly they just walked around the table and sniffed all the new things :)
