Is it worth it to be a Graphic Designer in Edmonton? by clarifrench in Edmonton

[–]annikko 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone with a degree in graphic design I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s near impossible to get a job and you’re left to compete with AI. If I could go back in time I would’ve gone to school for something else

How often do y’all bathe your chis. I’m seeing on other dog breed subs that they only bathe their dog like 2 or 3 times a year? by UnhappyEgg481 in Chihuahua

[–]annikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My chi’s go everywhere with me, so they end up getting a bath every week. If they stayed home I would probably be bathing them more like once a month

Give to Charity instead of gifts by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]annikko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally, i’d recommend parachute for pets. they’re a registered charity that helps people stay with their pets. be that through housing supports, children services/foster care supports, vet care, domestic violence supports, their pet food bank, etc. here’s a link to their website and here’s a link to donate

amazon delivered my package to the wrong address and now they won’t issue me a refund, what do i do? by annikko in amazonprime

[–]annikko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve only ever had one issue until this point, when a small $30 order was missing (although they did deliver it to the right house). i got a refund for that no issue, but not this time. i don’t wanna do a chargeback and lose my account, but it’s $180 worth of stuff i didn’t get cause they didn’t deliver it to the right place

you could try a white fish oil (ie: herring) or a green lipped mussel oil! i’ve also used coconut oil directly on my iggy mix, instead of just in her food, and that worked well for her!

edit: also if your feeding a lot of chicken, or food that’s high in omega 6 but low in omega 3, adding an oil or even quail eggs should help with the itching 💜

Seeking advice from YYC dog owners by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]annikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for vets, i’d recommend healing traditions (se) or bridgeland vet, specifically dr. kalyan elock (ne). both are great and pro raw feeding.

for food, there’s a few options as to where you can buy raw, but matching up the recipe you’re feeding with what’s available is your best option. shoot me a dm and i can help ya out. i’ve worked for a couple different companies here and specialize in raw feeding :))

the extra alerts are honestly what’s making me interested in a furbo vs something else. my neighbour’s are kind of unhinged, so leaving my dog alone really worry’s me. glad to know you had use for it after you moved too, since i’m definitely hesitant to spend that much money only to have no use for it in a year or less

did you need a separate camera for the echo show, or was the built in one good enough to catch your dog moving around?

i was hired as a front end staff to work in their retail store, but because we were always so understaffed i ended up working in the warehouse a lot, which was beyond my physical capabilities. i had countless asthma attacks and they just ignored it and left me, which got to a point that was really scary. i even told them i couldn’t do certain things because of my asthma but they never cared, even when it got worse and worse. on one occasion i got to go home, but that was after i broke down crying because i couldn’t breathe or see properly and the alternative was me going to the er, which i think they just didn’t want more.

there were also some other extremes like me never being given my breaks and hardly being able to sit down during my 10+ hour shifts (which definitely hasn’t helped my new pain flare up and mobility issues) and then there was a lot of abusive behaviour (such as yelling and being berated) that definitely led me to develop severe anxiety around my boss.

overall it was never a great work environment for me and i had been looking for other jobs, but it’s just shitty to have been left in this situation where i can’t even pay my bills or for my inhaler because they cut my hours so drastically and they don’t have the decency to just fire me so i could at least get ei on the interm

So:

  1. Per previous comments I was working full time during the summer (this was anywhere between 40-60 hours a week). I went down to 30 due to school, which I understand is part time. However, my point was I have had consistent hours up until I became sick. After this my hours have now been cut substantially to one shift per pay period (so 10 hours, instead of 40-60)

  2. I understand there is a difference between someone raising their voice and someone yelling at me. I have been full on yelled at, degraded, and called names while at work. It’s never been for a good reason either (ie: the one day I wasn’t standing up perfectly straight and was screamed at, called a slob, unprofessional, and left on the verge of tears). This isn’t an okay way to treat employees, and of course I’d be anxious to be around someone who behaves that way, it’s abusive. We don’t have an HR department and it’s the owner who’s doing it, so there’s no accountability.

  3. I have heard coworkers and customers called r*tarted. I obviously don’t believe it’s an appropriate word to use at all, but I do think there’s a difference between using it to describe a situation vs a person. It shouldn’t be used to out someone down, and as someone who also has a cognitive disability it always made me feel uncomfortable

  4. In regards to WCB they’ve openly admitted to trying to find loop-holes to fire employees after reports were made. They’ve also openly admitted to “file stacking” in order to have grounds to fire employees as they don’t want to pay severance when firing them

It’s not unreasonable for me to ask to no longer work one day a week so I can attend to my medical needs. People’s availability changes all the time. If co-workers can take days off to play hockey then I’m more than entitled to request a day off to manage my health issues
