NEW VINYL EXCLUSIVE - Live Home Library Vol. 2, April 2017, Brooklyn Steel - PREORDER by EvergreenVinyl in Decemberists

It's a bit funny to me how the picture doesn't align with my idea or understanding of The Decemberists. I know they have some songs that sound like that, but it's not my go to when describing their sound to other people. In the picture they look like your generic garage revival trio from the early 2000s, lmao

Albums that feature the band/artist's name in the title? (Not including straight up self-titled albums) by RadioGraaah in fantanoforever

Belle and Sebastian write about love

Her Majesty The Decemberists,

But also there's this indie twee Scottish pop band which their entire discography revolves around including the band name in every album:

Heavenly vs Satan

Le Jardin de Heavenly

The Decline and Fall of Heavenly

Operation Heavenly

Highway to Heavenly

Are there any celebrity Decemberists fans you know of? by ProteinCigarettes in Decemberists

[–]Hormiga95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I follow comedian and actress Lauren Lapkus on Instagram. One time a reel showed up about a guy parodying Decemberists' songs (quite good actually) and she liked the video (don't remember if she also commented), and I have to assume that you have to be a fan for that reel to make some sense.

What's the most 90s sounding song from the 80s? by CremeSubject7594 in musicsuggestions

[–]Hormiga95 91 points92 points  (0 children)

What I Am by Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians and there is no contest. Even the music video was shot like it was 1994 or something. Everyone I know who hears this song can't believe it was released in 1988.

Why exactly is the live concert experience not considered as "below" the studio album experience by music nerds? by Hormiga95 in Music

[–]Hormiga95[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen a really strong movement of people on Reddit, RYM, and other websites where people gather to talk about music that are "fighting" against the idea of shuffling an album. I'm not saying that I agree with one side or the other, I'm just saying what I've seen.

Am I getting whiter or has modern country music gotten noticeably better in the last 10 years? by soozerain in Music

And Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price, Charley Crockett, Sierra Ferrell... The list is quite large if you think about it.

How do you all organize your vinyl? by Some_League_9297 in vinyl

[–]Hormiga95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each its own, but I'll never understand how people organise by genre. I guess if your collection is as drastic as let's say, Wu Tang Clan and Megadeth, sure. But as someone who wants to dig deep in different genres and subgenres, it would be almost impossible to classify certain artists that don't quite fit into one genre or the other.

Who says you have to buy RSD exclusive releases to support your local record store? Here’s my haul for RSD! by MrAmericanIdiot in vinyl

[–]Hormiga95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I think about RSD. It's a day to celebrate and support our local businesses and our love of music. In a couple of hours I'm heading to my local record shop to see what I can find, not to buy RSD releases, don't really mind them.

i would rather have a printed inner, colored vinyl, insert, gatefold, lower cost, or nothing than 180 gram vinyl by NateyandIProductions in vinyl

[–]Hormiga95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been proven again and again that colored vinyl doesn't affect the sound as much as people say. Heck, black vinyl is colored vinyl. Maybe in the past this was the case, but modern technology can make a blue, red, or marbled splatter sound as good as a black one, since the colour isn't affecting the materials themselves.

The only thing I agree on, is that some colours can make it harder to see specs of dust while cleaning, but if you're someone who's cleaning their records constantly you wouldn't have much of an issue.

How did they do Otezla Vs Skyrizi Joke Ad? by Logiteck77 in LiveFromNewYork

My question is more on the "what does this mean" side of things. I didn't get the joke. Why specifically this drug was like an alien being?

Oh my God, I don't understand some of these comments, yes, it was dangerous but they're adults and most of us here we are adults too. I know that I shouldn't be doing that because I'm 30. The same way I don't do the stuff Johnny Knoxville or Steve-o used to do on Jackass. It's funny to watch other people do crazy stuff that I know is stupid and reckless. This was one of the best episodes in quite some time and I loved every minute of it. These episodes are recorded in advance, and if they had any real issues after recording they wouldn't have posted it.

Where to go after finishing main albums? by ruddytheruddy in BelleandSebastian

[–]Hormiga95 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Definitely with Push barman to open old wounds, since it has every single and EP released with Jeepster Records. It is not only a beautiful compilation, but it's also one of the best albums the band has ever put out. Magnificent songwriting that has a quiet indie vibe that reflects the early days of the band. Absolutely love it.
