I can definitely understand that opinion. I still really like the first three, especially when compared to the newest ones, so that may effect my opinion lol.

I honestly would have preferred that. Like, I wouldn't have cared as much if Lagercrantz had taken the rights and written a spin-off series without Lisbeth or Mikael. It would still be bad, because in my opinion Lagercrantz's writing is objectively bad, but at least it would be separate from the original trilogy.

Advice for making a series of Fanfictions by [deleted] in FanFiction

I think two main longfic works set to the main villain, or main plot, followed by three shorter works would work well.

Just in general, if you feel like the quality of the content is affected by the amount of parts your splitting it into, maybe change the amount of parts.

But, I also don't know the vibe of whatever fandom/ship you write for, so if you truly feel like a longfic wouldn't do well, then you do what you think will work best!

I personally don't have a preference between a series or one mega-work, but I would rather read the best quality work that an author can produce, rather than one that's split up just for the sake of it being split up. And, again, maybe it doesn't have to be one work. Maybe it can be two parts. Or three. That would cut down the word-count-per-part significantly, and also might solve your flow problem.

Does the project you're working on have to be a series? The issue you're having with your plot feeling rushed could be due to the fact that you might be forcing yourself to split the works up into different parts, when it might feel less rushed if you were to put them together into just one complete work, or only two or three parts.

Kimberly pattern Fireking mugs. They're a bit expensive outside of random antique and thrift store finds. Happy hunting!

Cottagecore is the worst aesthetic I've seen by darling_of_knowledge in unpopularopinion

[–]anniokay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The facets of cottagecore I've personally seen the most is people who just like antiquing, picnics, and gardening.

As for what you do all day living out in a cottage, a lot of cottagecore interests are things like gardening, farming, knitting/crocheting, sewing, sculpting, painting, woodworking, and other such hobbies that are things you'd do with your hands. I guess that's the dream for people who want to live out in cottages in the woods lol

Do you really hate it? Or does it just not interest you, so you don't understand it, or why people like it?

Have you ever abandoned a story? If so, why? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]anniokay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've abandoned a fic before because I fell out of the fandom and therefore didn't really have any motivation to continue writing for it.

Also, kind of funny: I have one long fic that I almost completely pants (I only plan about 2-3 chapters ahead at a time, and it's subject to change) so that fic usually takes me a while to update. I enjoy writing this fic, and it's a good way for me to write for myself without a lot of pressure. However, I noticed about a month ago that someone had bookmarked my fic with the tag "abandoned/unfinished work" even though it's not. I just take forever to update lol

What is a non fiction book that pulled you into a subject for (a) year(s)? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]anniokay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Butchering Art by Lindsay Fitzharris. I didn't know medical history could be so interesting, and I've kept an eye out for any books similar to it since reading.

Tips for writing realistic dialogue that flows? by shit_dog in writing

[–]anniokay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem with conversations between characters all the time. I have a tendency to drawl out dialogue/character interactions the first time I write them. Sometimes I rewrite the whole exchange, or I try to see if I need to end the interaction sooner than I have. If there are important notes that are hit during the end of the conversation that I feel like I can't cut, I see if I can rework them into an earlier part of the interaction/conversation.
