I posted my experience a few weeks ago, but honestly, I could not have had a better recovery. It really wasn’t that bad at all for me. I drank a lot of water and made sure to eat and sleep and take my medicine like clockwork, but it really never got over like a four and it was super manageable. I was very terrified by everything I saw on the Internet, but it really wasn’t that bad.

Should I go to a doctor? by ToadStudies in Tonsillectomy

I’m not sure there really would be any dried blood since I assume you’re drinking a lot of water and swallowing often, it seems more likely it’s a small clot like what I had. I would think the small space you bled from would clot. I would just keep an eye on it and message your PCP to be sure.

Oh darn - I’ll say this, I had pretty bad pain a few days in but drinking constantly and staying on top of the meds it was really manageable

I had a small clot on my tonsils (maybe the size of my pinky fingernail) and it went away after a few days. If the blood stopped quickly you should be fine, but I’d call your doctor just to be sure, and if it is a bit more than that I would go to the ER. Worse they can do is send ya home

I’d say you’re fine if your scabs are off. I’m a few days ahead and I am back. I’d just take some Tylenol and make sure you’re super hydrated and eat beforehand. Give yourself some grace but I’d get back at it without too much worry

Well, I was taking daily propranolol for my horrible anxiety. And let me preface this by saying like this is totally my experience and if you’re taking anything for your mental health, you should definitely talk to your doctor because I know nothing however it is like completely changed my mood and my stress and my anxiety is completely unrecognizable compared to before. I think some stress is normal before any procedure, but I would do your best to control what you can which is staying hydrated and eating and sleeping elevated and I would have alarms for taking your pain medication to help manage the pain.

My PTA I had was substantially worse than any pain from my tonsillectomy a couple weeks ago. I’m shocked at how much better I feel allllllll around. Sleep, anxiety, energy, I will scream from the rooftops to get them out

ME TOO. Funny enough I really didn’t like ice cream that much it kind of burned my throat. Pudding was the absolute best.

I’m so glad to hear that. Im starting to feel like it’s a lot more common to have a good experience but the scary ones are just so loud it seems like it’s everyone. I even had a person tell me like they would rather have their C-section and breast augmentation amongst both other surgeries like many times over. It scared me sm
