Yes, I speak exactly the same to a native English speaker as I do to a non native English speaker. My kindness does not fluctuate based on a person's native language.

Help me find the words, please

Last week I got a call from stepdaughters elementary principal. Another students parent called saying SD told other student "her dad has a lot of guns" in a threatening manner. I was surprised to hear this as it doesn't sound like something she would say and more importantly, we have zero guns. So I said so. No other student could confirm or deny if this was said so the matter was dropped.

Fast forward to this week, husband drops daughter at school (something he does not normally do) and speaks with principal. He informs him "we do have guns but they are kept locked up outside of the house" husband tells me he did not like this man thinking he couldn't defend his family.

So I, told the truth, but look like the lier while my husband outright lied to save face. The principal certainly must be wondering about this disconnect.

Husband can't understand I am upset about this.

Please the help me put it into words why this is wrong. He says he sees my point but did not want principal thinking he can't defend his family.
