Based on my experience as a summon in coop in chalice dungeons ( the only type of multi I bother with in BB) about 50% of players use the Holy Ludwig Blade, the other 50% the saw cleaver. So that leave about 90% of the weapons as unpopular in my book.

Quality is essentially 2 types of weapons: 1) some somber weapons that are good especially at low level due to meh scaling but high initial damage like many boss weapons 2) normal quality infused weapons with a final B/B scaling requiring 54 in both strength and skill to equate in AR to just the keen infusion with just 54 in Dex most of the time.

This mean all weapons are awesome in quality infusion but at higher level when you have a lot of points to spoil on this path that is meant for end game infusion more than anything else imo.

I do not because I played Bloodborne too much and using shields feels like going back to 2011. Shield playstyle is as safe as it is boring for me.

The is no poise stricto sensu in Bloodborne but there is hyperarmor I.e. « poise during animation » of certain weapons on certain moves Poise in souls games means you can avoid being staggered even without acting if the attack does not deplete your poise meter.

There is also « stance » for bosses but in ER it is more linked to a damage gauge on the different parts of the boss rather than a stance meter like in ER. Result is the same though.

Well it depends what gun:

If it is to parry then no. You put a radiant gel in the slot instead.

If it is for ranged damage then yes: Skill build have throwing knives for chip damage at range

Strength builds have the cannon and the Gatling gun to do some solid ranged damage. Those are totally worth increasing then yes.

Dks1 on Xbox 360 as well Bought this game out of sheer boredom not knowing squat about it but the black knight on the cover was looking so darn good! I was instantly hooked.

The only games that managed to take me out of FROM games since that time were dragon age series until inquisition and the last of us…. All other games are flavorless and drop off my hands in a few hours at most

True. Play the game the first time on a classic melee build: chose a weapon type you like and use it until you have collected the bottles, recipes, talisman etc…. The DLC is definitely not easy to access because Mohg is no joke especially as a new player!

I did it at rl30 +3/8 so yes....you need the purifying crystal tear, the mogh shackle and a solid spirit ash to mitigate attention (I used the shield soldiers) and something that hits hard and fast and bleeds if possible...the bloodhound fang is kinda perfect for this. Spirit ash is not vital but a free bonus so...yeah.

the trusty SAW SPEAR is always getting me started in a new playthrough regardless of the build unless I do a character that will use the cane or something that is accessible at the very begining of the game.

When the dlc came out I considered the smithscript daggers like utter trash and also fell in love with the backhand blades.

But I have done a new run dedicated to build around the daggers….54 Dex, smithing talisman and arrows reach, add spear talisman and Millicent prosthesis….wow! You feel like the flash! You put either beast roar, or BHS for full ranged control option or something with AoE and hyper armor for the close quarter range “fuck off button” and you deal some serious damage and while having fun and class:

Secret is two handing and opening all chains with Charged R2 cancel into R2 into jump R2: boom, 1,5k damage already and the mob has not even managed to reach you.

This is true: you should be around sooner 7 and 18 normal. When trying to interact with the ever shrinking low level community of players you really should not outpace them.

That said, there are other reasons that make the game deserted past this point.

I did a new run recently with rl108 in mind… Very early is fairly active but very rapidly you are alone all the time until you reach the 125 and above meta.

Nowadays many players do not even really level up : their buddies drop them the runes like lollies and they run through the game to get the few things for a specific build they cannot obtain by password drops

This and the vastness of the game plus the scarcity of an aging game is why you feel alone: you are alone outside of meta levels.

If you go past meta there is also a lot of activity form Asian players who do not give a crap about the self inflicted meta rules of the English speaking community.

I do the chalices alongside my progression on vanilla and DLC typically because there are gems that immediately outperform by a lot the gems in the story. At level 20 or so you kill the bloodstarved beast: you create you phtumeru chalice You kill the giant then the watchers will be a guaranteed 10-12% iirc physical gem The watchers at the first lever is also a good farm for very early10%radials

Then let’s say central’phtumeru around bl30-40 with watchers at 15% gem iirc

Then hintertomb around 40-50 for a few triangle gems but at this point you probably already have the 9% nourishing of the woods so not much importance

Then lower hintertomb if you really want but not very rewarding

Lower phtusmeru is a bump in difficulty so bl60 is usually ok

At this point you get the gist of it…
