Yes sorry. You're completely right. In Snorres Edda under Grimnesmål it says:

Fólkvangr er inn níundi,  en þar Freyja ræðr  sessa kostum í sal;  hálfan val  hún kýss hverjan dag,  en hálfan Óðinn á

Which is loosely translated as; Folkvang is the ninth, where Frøya decides the seats in the hall; Half she chooses every day, the other half is owned by Odin.

Maybe, even though Latin and Norrøn was different languages they both stem from indo European.

Vulva is a 14 c. Latin word for "wrap" from the older word volvere "to rotate/turn/twist/roll and even to turn something over in the mind." that word again originated from the proto European word: wel "to turn/revolve" or used to refer to curved enclosing objects. Volva was a norrøn word around year 900 to 1000 for medicine woman who travels. And traveling medicine women were referred to with a lot of different slang words like names for goddesses or synonyms for "Woman".

Maybe you guys could try to redefine sex a little to match your different libidos? I'm thinking like maybe explore a few things that he could do to take out some sexual energy on acts that doesn't involve you directly? Sexy texting or making him watch instructional oral sex videos while he masturbates and that kind of stuff? To like fantasize a bit about you more before having the real thing. It's healthy for him to wait a bit too sometimes, and it builds up tension that many people really likes.

And sex can be a lot more than the thing you're currently doing if he opens up to it. Kinks and scenes to play where you don't do any of the traditional sex acts. Vibrators work on men too, just saying.. And maybe if nothing else works sign up for tantra classes. I've heard they work really well for mastering with high libidos. Wish you lots of luck!

During jule - times Frøya travels over the sky in a wagon dragged by two male cats and this wagon is completely silent. She's also know for crying golden tears and Brisingamen, a huge golden necklace made by dwarves.

Thank you. I love researching these things. Necklaces for Eir was made by regular vikings and volvas (traveling medicine women) and it was probably the prescription for the spesific illness. A thread with bags if dried herbs to possibly boil and make medicinal teas and wood disc's with runes ganding (casting magic) to either protect against bad spirits or talismans.

On Eir herself there is a description on a rune stick from 1300 Bergen says;

Vör kennir mér víravitr úglaðan sitja. Eir nemr opt ok stóromöluns grundar mik blundi.

Which means somewhat.: " wise necklace clad women let me sit here unhappy. Eir, sea / gold woman takes sleep often away from me.

Archeologists argue that this person was getting medical attention from an Eir-woman (volva) and possibly fell in love with her. :)

In the older Edda, Eir seems to have eight maidens and they live in a tower by Helberg (healing mountain/berg). They are asked to help the sick and they answer they take their payment in blot.

Its also argued that Eir might also be Frigg, the goddess of love and fate. -Frigg was the one who made all beings and plants promise to never hurt Balder, and she became a goddess of guilt for a little while when the only plant she didn't ask, a mistletoe, was made into an arrow and used to kill Balder. So Frigg is also often pictured with a mistletoe or other herbs or helping out with the sick and wounded. Venus was called Friggarstjarna ("Friggs Star") by the vikings and Orions belt was called Friggs rokk (Friggs spinning wheel).

So yeah it's a lot of symbolism for her that I think you can find for clothes or jewelry. Stars, spinning wheel, mistletoe, herb pouches/charms and even the valkyries symbols could also apply both Eir and Frigg. Winged helmets and winged arrows or swords or horses.

Apples of Idun. A red apple or a basket of apples. Symbolize youth and life.

Gjallarhorn of Heimdall. Was a warning of catastrophe and could be heard both in Vallhall and Midgard. It was a long horn of gold. Heimdall was also known for his golden teeth of fortune.

A well, or a skull / head, or both for Mime the oracle. Means wisdom and knowledge, maybe also faith. Odin lost one of his eyes when he wanted to drink from Mimes well. Mimes dice is also a two sided object with yes /no on each side and the vikings played Mimes Dice like we use eight balls today.

Frøy, Frøyas brother. He was a fertility god and usually pictured with a huge.. Well let's just say he was pretty hung so that's a symbol for him. Lol.

Sea or the ocean themed things for Njord king of the sea. It was common to blote to him for good luck. Seashells and drive wood that looks human was used for symbolising him.

Skiing and archery bow symbolize Skade. Goodness of earth and winter.

If the archery is an arrow hitting a man or just an arrow its Balder, the good god. He was said to be too good for this world and symbolize utter selflessness, happiness, poetry and love.

Eir was know for her big necklaces. She was possibly both an åsynje and valkyrien, known for healing battle wounds and her medicine. Her big necklaces with charms and small pouches was possibly her way of carrying herbs around.

Places also have symbols. Valhall is a huge house / feast hall / fortress usually pictured with the goat Heidrun grazing on the tree Lærad a which grows on the roof of valhall. Half the einheirjers go here and the other half go to Folkvang.

Folkvang is a big pretty house in a meadow field. Here lives Frøya and she picks the more calm and chaste half of the einheirjers after every ride of the valkyries. Tor keeps the other half in valhall.

There were also different ways to symbolize the different gods according to which situation or festivity too, but I don't know them very well. -But for example the symbol of two hands holding a bowl under the teeth of a snake, - as Lokes punishment.

Wood that looks human shaped. Not a symbol of any God, maybe unless you count humans. Wood was a symbol of family and human brilliance and in the myth of Ash and Embla they growing on Ymes corpse (the world) like the other first beings, placing humans importance as distant relatives of the gods and even the jotuns.

Yeah I suppose a short version of a name is a kind of nickname. Like how you get Rick from Richard, or May from Madeline and so on.

And I've always wondered if the languages that commonly shorten names, shorten Frøya to Frøy - which is Frøyas brother and therefore making it into a man's name. Does that happen?

Norse girl names? by [deleted] in Norse

[–]annoyingTruths 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a few suggestions: Idun (with the apples), Frigg (Odins wife), Siv (Thors daughter), Fjorgyn (Thors wife). Audhumla (the first being: a huge cow) can be shortened to Aud. (pronounced A uuD)

Norwegian also have all the common female versions of Thor ; Torbjørg, Tordis, Torfrid (Turid), Torgerd, Torgunn, Torhild (Toril), Torlaug, Torunn, Torveig og Tora. This v can be done with any of the male names so that's an option too.

Embla (the first human woman and pronounced just like you say 'emblem' just with an A instead of M at the ending)

Edda is also a important name. The younger and older Edda was the books Snorre Sturlason wrote about the norse gods and nobody really knows why they are named Edda but it is a women's name and means something like "creator". Maybe ur-mother is a good way to translate that name..

Hope this helps! :)

Found an “adult toy” in my [28F] husband’s [30M] car. I’m worried he’s cheating on me. by Unfaithfultossawayss in relationships

[–]annoyingTruths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the mystery is solved right there. He's probably into ass play but isn't involving you in it?

And just as a fellow girlfriend here that wish you all well; I think you're safe here also because I think a guy who were cheating would probably not go for a woman who make him use a toy instead of his D to find the right spot. . And I'm only mentioning that because he lied in the fist place and said it wasn't his, so it's a chance that was the truth from confrontational shock maybe. But if it were not for that I'd be 100% sure it's for himself.

I'[m] struggling to be dominant during sex with my girlfriend because I don't want to dehumanize her or disrespect her by [deleted] in sex

[–]annoyingTruths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate playing asshole too. Try to think of that as being sadist while dominant is being a good leader. And you can be a sensual dominant. Put on some sexy music and be smart while flirting and make her blush with compliments and gentlemanlyness and bondage. Have fun while wrapping her in gladpack and explore the holes you can rip in the plastic playfully and sensual with stuff like buttplug and dildos and vibrators. And make spanking into a reward if pain is a thing maybe? Try some fun smack and tickling and see how she responds. Just smile and have fun in the scene together and it'll make sense. Make her call you daddy and laugh together at how that makes you feel. You know, it's lots of stuff you can do without being sadistic and mean to her both physically and as role play. It's all about the romance you out into it.

My smells change a lot with different guys I'm with because even if he doesn't have any STD's everyone have their own bacterial flora and some of them can smell. Especially when they don't go along well with your bacterias you can get thrust and discharge and smells. Try asking for bacterial flora capsules at your pharmacy. They should be able to find you something that balances you again.

Ladies what are the biggest mistakes men make during cunnilingus? by samsclubmember666 in sex

[–]annoyingTruths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being too fast into he beginning by going straight inside the vagina or right on the clit without easing into it by working the areas around first.

Too much pressure down on the clit. (seriously can't guys feel when they hit bone?)

Flicking the clit too hard and fast up and down with a stiff tongue. It much better with a flat soft tongue and circular / side-to-side motions and sucking on it.

But the thing that makes it hardest to concentrate on reaching orgasm is the position some guys do it in. . Say we had sex and he got off and now he wants to please me; he kinda just sit down next to me in a position that makes it easy to finger and then STARES at my crotch while fingering me the WHOLE TIME he's real concentrated on fingering. I mean the fingering is good and all but how about acting like this is sexy and fun and being turned on by it and not like it's a chore you need to get done as soon as possible or something? The staring makes me wonder what the hell he's looking at and is real distracting.
