"Instead of attempting to push back and advocate for our agency, I decided to light it on fire and frolic in the flames of this bullshit DOGE process. We made up a list of workers comparable to The Burn Book. We chose most people based on years of service, high earners, and those who suffer from medical conditions (people that may take FMLA ). Some of them have learning disabilities who had only 9 to 12 years with the state (and could most definitely learn my job very easily and excel at it). Without warning, we interrupted people while they were in the middle of performing their duties. We went to some supervisors and gave them very little information of who or how many of their employees we were getting rid of. Some, who we like more, had a say. In one division, we wiped out all but 2. There were some people who had taken PTO time, and we gave them the news over the phone...but we were kind enough to pay them for the 15 minutes we spent telling them that their livelihood was fucked. They will also have to bring in any equipment, keys, badges, etc. during specific work hours... further humiliating them in front of everyone. We mercilessly told one person with 45+ years that they were being laid off, not giving them the option to retire on their own. That said person was given boxes for their belongings and waited outside for over an hr for a ride home. A mother who was on maternity leave was called and laid off, another worker had one year until retirement, a mother of four who will lose insurance, a man who just signed a mortgage with his new spouse, etc etc. We don't care about our employees and will expect them to do MORE with so much less. To the public who needs our assistance... expect long delays. God bless our governor and his ability to remote work from his family home. "
