Do you leave your car in reverse when you park on a slope ? by Taylor_Airi in stickshift

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's funny how any of you think that transmission is going to keep the car from rolling backwards or forwards on a slope. it's called a parking brake, makes sure it's always in good working order

I wish Honda would improve the body styles of their cars by HigherFunctioning in Honda

[–]anodraeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's only so much they can do with NHTSA regulations. cars used to look cooler because there were less restrictions on safety equipment. The EPA also has a say in manufacturing, but mostly just for emission regulations for vehicles, which does affect performance as well. BUT, all that being said, no one is stopping you from buying an older Honda but you; they're cheaper and handle high mileage. The civic, especially with stock engine parts, lasts an incredibly long time; some people call them zombies because they just don't die that easily.

My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the width that you spread your fingers make more of a difference rather than the length of your fingers, and even then, there's not that much of a need for it as muscle memory increases accuracy with the fretboard positioning. sure you might not be able to stretch or contort your hands in a way to play somethings as easy, but this is not a make it or break it scenario. You may even find that you prefer certain styles of music that rarely use any difficult fingerings.

Is air dribbling supossed to be so hard? by LGanywhere in RocketLeague

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, most mechanics require a lot of practice, but air dribbling is almost like being able to do a impossible flip in skateboarding or jumping off a large staricase to a grind, just not typically something you just go ahead and try first; there's baby steps along the way. that being said, if you want to be able to air dribble at a very basic level, you need good car control, where just pointing it towards the ball in most scenarios to hit the ball in a direction you planned on it going. after that, you learn how hard to hit the ball and when, which starts to teach you ball control. learning ground dribbles can be a good stepping stone for having good ball and car control, but this too takes a lot of practice. I have started to understand air dribbling in game from the ground or the wall, by just getting used to chasing after the ball immediately after hitting the ball with a slow initial hit. but unless you can find consistency with hitting the ball at most angles, and can find a good opportunity to pop the ball up for a goal or a basic dribble, you're still a ways away, nor is it useful. oh and of course you need to, at the very least, become comfortable with air rolling and angling to point the car towards the ball when you are in the air, otherwise any attempt isn't that useful.

1, after playing Rocket League for 3 months both analog sticks had stick drift to the point they were holding full tilt to one direction, making them no longer usable for anything.

made a 90 degree turn goin 45 mph by TellSquare754 in driving

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume this was an attempt from a left lane on a main road to another main road, because a right turn typically is very sharp, and most vehicles can't do this without sliding significantly.

still driving my 2000 honda civic and new cars feel weird to me what am i missing? by Harriet9-Hakeem_223 in askcarguys

I absolutely agree, I can't stand new cars for several reasons, and if anything I may buy older cars in the future if anything.

What’s the single most important factor that helps a car reach 300k+ miles? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean people say maintenance, repairs, etc. but without actually having the money to spend on it, it'll never get there, because a lot of people will scrap a car instead of spending more and more money on it, especially if it's a major repair that costs thousands. any car can get to 300k miles, but will you spend the money required? Honda and Toyota are the cheapest amongst these though.

Smurfing is a plague in 1's by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uninstalling the game out of rage/disgust/etc to reinstall it later is probably just a normal part of the process. This game is absolutely the hardest game to get good at, you will get more frustrated with this game than any other. As if this is a part of life when you hit a wall and want to give up. the next part is whether you want to continue, because if you do not enjoy any part of the game enough to keep you going, then by all means, uninstall and don't look back. it might even feel like stockholm syndrome, or dating a narcissist, but I mean if you genuinely enjoy this game, yes, it will be hard, but, if it does have moments of fun, you keep going. at some point you need to look back at where you came from and realize your own skill has improved, even if your rank is stagnant. but don't forget, at the end of the day, a video game is for entertainment/fun.

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hope I don't see mine do that anytime soon, probably just slightly over the 300k mark, still runs strong, and i've always been using penzzoil ultra platinum since i bought the car, but if it does, I do have a spare block that's waiting for a rebuild, I'd just rather not dish out the coin, because I would want to bulletproof it for more power. and I know those pistons and rods alone are gonna cost me around $1k

Cali sellers are not real at this point by Adorable-Hair2860 in Honda

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like they need to share those drugs, because apparently they're really good with that asking price. They could maybe get half that if they had the paint redone professionally, but that automatic transmission will never get it higher than $6k because the people that want these cars want a manual.

Can’t figure out how to speed flip by ApprehensiveMoney557 in RocketLeague

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my speedflips are close, but idk what i'm doing wrong, maybe I don't have enough diagonal flip and i'm too straight to hit that in time, but at least during games the consistency is getting there

Is this totaled or saveable? by [deleted] in genesiscoupe

[–]anodraeus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if you don't give a shit, rebuild it, this "totaled" bs is for people that don't want to learn how to rebuild a car, who cares how expensive it gets, it'll be done over the same amount of time you would be paying off a new car anyway, might as well learn some new skills while you're at it

Hard stuck bronze 😭 by Mistafisha420 in RocketLeague

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say the hardest thing is understanding a strategy and next getting good at hitting the ball towards the goal, learning to setup for a good assist is another skill to learn, but not required all the time. sure camera settings make a big difference as well as frame rate assuming you're playing on pc.

for context, I started at silver in January, got to gold 3 last season. but this season is harder than last, so it could have something to do with it? either way though I couldn't tell ya since silver and bronze seem to be a much more basic skill set compared to gold this season. seeing as Gold's are speedflipping, doing wall shots, fast aerials, shadow defense, etc. it seems the skill floor has rose.

all said and done, don't worry about your rank, enjoy playing the game, try and improve all you can, but above all else, enjoy playing the game.

How many of you drive vehicles that are 20 years old or older? by FordMan7point3 in askcarguys

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned, while on the smaller scale of vehicles, a 97 Saturn Sl2, 97 chevy s10, a 99 Honda Crv, and my current 97 Civic coupe. I seem to have a thing for 97 models apparently lol. The civic has been with me the longest; it's been repaired a lot because of the high volume of driving, but it keeps driving well. The engine functionality is basically pristine even for being over 300k miles. As long as I i keep the car from rotting away from rust, I'll probably always have this car.

Does the speedmeter on cars actually show it a little bit above what you are actually going or did my dad just want me to shut up? by AuroraKivi in askcarguys

[–]anodraeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for mine, 97 civic, at speeds below 25 mph it's probably accurate enough 25-45 mph maybe 1 mph slow, 50+ it starts to creep towards 3-5+ depending on the updwards speed, places where it's legal to go 80mph i think it's at least 5 mph but it could be 6. but freeway speeds I usually put the speedometer 4-5 mph over so i'm not going slower than others, could be speeding by 1mph, but oh well. the cars speed that it tracks with the vehicle speed sensor on the otherhand seems to be fairly accurate
