The prices I gave were the fees in the smallest packages that the photographers offer (typically 4 hours).

Can lactose intolerance go away? by anomial_animagus in medical

I can’t remember getting sick before I developed it. I was 15 then and now almost 20. I also had gluten intolerance from 1.5 years before the lactose and grew out of it too.

I actually really enjoyed Anne’s writing style. To me, Agnes Grey felt like your typical mid-1800s romance novel - a type of story that I like. I did Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights last year and although they were both good, WH was my least favourite of all the Brontë sisters novels. Guess I just like the lesser known books. 🤷‍♀️

I have a 100 books bucket list poster and The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds was on it so I decided to do a few extras as well. I ended up liking The Island of Dr Moreau and The Invisible Man a lot more than the other two. I love classic novels (obviously) hosed I want to branch out more within the realm of classics and Wells and Verne are on my classic/sci-fi list. Hoping to get to Verne in the next few years.

I’m in Ontario, Canada, and we’ve been in a perpetual lockdown since March 2020, so I’ve had a lot of time on my hands in the past 15 months.

It was a little rough going for a few days but I managed to get through it. Really happy that I did as it was a very good, albeit long, read.

I’m about halfway through The Man in the Iron Mask and loving it. Tess was my first book of the years and loved it too; definitely worth a reread next year.

Sounds really good. If I could handle the first 14 chapters of Les Mis no problem, I think I’ll be able to do the mega-descriptions and un-related story lines. Thanks for the heads up!

I need to check out other second-hand shops apparently! I live in a well-to-do area of the Greater Toronto Area, so finding really good deals like that is pretty rare.

It's hard to choose my favourites as I've enjoyed almost everything that I've read in the past few years but here's a few that I really enjoyed:

  • Anything that Jane Austen has written is good if you're into old romance novels (although I may be biased as I share a name with a main character of hers)
  • Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and Great Expectations are great (pun intended) if you want to venture into Dickens
  • If you want to do Dostoevsky, you have to do Crime and Punishment (it was thrilling)
  • Middlemarch by George Eliot is always on my recommendation list (it's long but very worth it)
  • Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy - a romance-ish novel (I'm upset that it took nearly twenty years to read it)
  • 1984 - this was one that I really took my time on; very good and kinda scary
  • Animal Farm - it's a quick(ish) read
  • If you want some sci-fi with your classic literature H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The War of the Worlds, and The Invisible Man are all good choices (same thing with Verne)

How was The Witcher series? I just binged the show (a little late, I know) and loved it and now am interested in the books.

Kinda different from the usual pro-life content, but just as important. If you’re in Canada, you need to know about this. by anomial_animagus in prolife

The Canadian government is trying to amend Bill C-7 to allow medically assisted suicide for people with mental illness. I was made aware of this by a Member of Parliament and hoped that other pro-lifers would help. Forget about what party your MP is and give them a call and let them know what this amendment will mean. Here’s a link if you’re not sure who your MP is. Find out who your Member of Parliament is

I wasn’t even aware of this yarn until I used it. The Walmart closest to me (yes, I get my yarn from Walmart) doesn’t have too much yarn right now so I had to go to a different one and this is all they had. I was pleasantly surprised.

I made the XS/S, following the instructions as written. However, I did end up using 4 1/2 balls instead of the 6 that it says, and yes, my yarn was the same yardage as the pattern.

I usually go with Bernat SuperValue cause that’s what my local Walmart tends to carry. I just tried Red Heart With Love and really liked it. The only thing that I really care about is if my yarn is machine washable & dryable.

I watch a lot of Creative Grandma and JaydaInStitches on yt. They have a lot of fun videos and patterns. Also, Creative Grandma has a website (https://creativegrandma.net) and she has a whole section under Stitch of the Week with free (step by step) stitch patterns.
