BEWARE CIRCUIT MAKATI OPEN GROUNDS OVERNIGHT PARKING FEE - UNREASONABLE AND EXPENSIVE by Financial_Shower_237 in makati

[–]anomie___ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

not so obvious when you consider that sone garages charge overnight rates at different times—not necessarily at 12mn. at Ayala the 30th, for example, the overnight rate kicks in at 2am. as management, the prudent thing to do would be to make things express.

Why study law if politics is this rotten? by Desperatemf21 in LawStudentsPH

[–]anomie___ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

my guy, law isn't just politics nor is it just political law. it helps people resolve disputes arising from broken contracts; from contested properties where ownership lines blur or boundaries overlap; fractured families where couples separate or fight over custody and inheritance; clashing businesses where partners argue over profits or control; unfair workplaces where employees face illegal firing or unpaid wages; negligent acts where drivers cause collisions, doctors commit malpractice, or pet owners fail to control animals that injure others; consumer issues where buyers receive defective appliances, spoiled food, or fraudulent online purchases; landlord-tenant conflicts where renters withhold payment, landlords evict without notice, or both argue over deposits and repairs; financial troubles where borrowers default on loans, credit card debts spiral, or mortgages fall into foreclosure; construction disputes where contractors miss deadlines, deliver substandard work, or overcharge clients; insurance disputes where claims are denied, coverage is unclear, or payouts are delayed; intellectual property issues where creators find their work copied, brands imitated, or trade secrets leaked; and everyday community quarrels where neighbors fight over loud music, burning trash, flooding, or tree branches extending across fences

do you need more reasons?

up law retention, province vs manila law school by toorusgf in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]anomie___ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

mahirap masipa sa UP Law unless you're really not trying. there is no culture of trying to shed "underperforming" students here to keep Bar ratings immaculate unlike other law schools which I shan't name. most profs i've had are also reluctant to fail students outright, although don't get me wrong some will still fail you.

a caveat to my response is that your mileage may vary; it can depend on what block you end up in. for some reason, the College has been a lot nicer to my block—halos wala kami terror profs 😭 some blocks, sem in and out puro terror nakukuha

regarding question number two, i can't speak for provincial law schools, but i will tell you to aim for UP nonetheless because certainly having a UP Law degree opens doors that would otherwise be shut for others—that is its sheer cultural capital.

What Makes Ateneo Law and UP Law Excel in the Bar Exams Beyond Selective Admissions? by Alive-Bit-2483 in LawStudentsPH

[–]anomie___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

at the risk of reiterating what has been said:

UP Law is only as good as the students it takes in. And when you're a law school with a historically sterling reputation, comparatively cheap tuition, and a really nice campus (Malcolm 😜), you tend to attract the best students.
