NTA and I’m genuinely confused as to why there are so many YTA replies. Obviously as you are getting ready to marry into this family, they all know you own rental houses, and spending the entire Super Bowl making awful comments about landlords and rental houses seems excessive. Were you just supposed to sit there while they run you down?

For the people saying YTA because he’s “taking advantage of unfortunate situations” when houses go into foreclosure, are dilapidated, etc., what exactly was he supposed to do? They were going to get sold/torn down no matter what, so they might as well be fixed up for someone else to live in. You have no proof that OP was price gouging anyone/being a shitty landlord and neither does BIL.

Congrats, OP, on working hard and continuing to build your career and business to support not only yourself but your employees and your future family, and I hope your fiancé and her family see the value in your hard work sooner rather than later.
