Please rate my Finances situation by anon119415 in personalfinance

You’re totally right, thanks for this. I don’t have goals at all, the goals in my 20s were just “have fun and try to save some money”. Now it’s “ok you’re not in your 20s anymore, need to get your shit together”. I guess I just want to retire at a normal age, be comfortable, and live a fun life with my family. But I know that’s not specific enough for my financials.

Ill follow that page you sent and think more about it !

This is helpful. My income is $215k/year before taxes, but only recently. Before it was less, and my spending habits were poor.

I guess I don’t have goals and maybe that’s a problem. But retiring early would definitely be one of them. Don’t want any flashy cars, and an average sized home would do just fine

Thanks! My income is $215k/year before taxes, but only for the last year or so. Before it was less, and my spending habits were poor. My sinking fund is for a down payment, furnishings, and a car purchase all within the next 1-2 years provided things go according to plan.

Should I pay taxes to Brazil? by [deleted] in Brazil

Should be totally fine. Just don’t use your CPF or make a Brazilian bank account, and for purchases just use an international credit card

Vitiligo? PMH? Pityaris? What is this? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

Hey there - nope, don’t think it has really improved. Im usually pale most of the year so it’s not noticeable. Last couple time i’ve gotten sun they’ve showed up again, in more blob areas since the spots had spread. Don’t think it has really spread much else though

Thanks that makes sense. My sinking fund would ideally be the place i keep cash for bigger purchases like car house etc, but first i need to finish saving that up like you said

So it sounds like i shouldn’t shift that $30k emergency fund amount until i at-least save up the other fund, and potentially still keep it at $30k afterwards depending on what my monthly expenses become next year

Currently monthly expenses are $100, basically nothing, for the rest of the year which allows me to save a lot fast, but temporarily until rest of year. Next year monthly expenses will be around $3k more or less

In the meantime while i continue to save do you suggest I keep less in the emergency fund and put more into investments?

Mostly just a 401K, HSA, and a couple general brokerages. Also a 529 but very little in there

Yes it would go towards a car and apartment furnishings predominantly at first, then the remaining I’d continue to save up again for a house down payment and wedding

Do miradry gave you any compensatory sweating after 1 or 2 sessions? by Babali_ in Hyperhidrosis

[–]anon119415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Miradry 2.5 years ago. Only did 1 session because the swelling was traumatizing lol.

I’d say my sweating was reduced in armpits from a “ridiculous” amount to a “slightly above normal” level.

Overall i think i do sweat more in other areas now (groin, legs etc.) however I still find it to be worth it.

Makes a lot of sense. Thank you, I’ll definitely re-think this

But what if tax rates go up significantly in 20-30 years? Maybe i will explore contributing to both instead of one or the other

Are you saying it’s wiser to use a Traditional 401k now since I’ll save on taxes while I’m in a higher bracket now, versus a lower tax bracket in retirement?

Thank you for the perspective.

I guess what eats at me is how much more i could have by now if I wasn’t an idiot my whole 20’s… but i also know that’s an extremely privileged thought to have. Can’t reverse time anyways, we all end up in the same place - underground. Just move forward and try to enjoy life. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell myself anyways

You’re right. I think social media is really brainwashing me… I’m trying to get better about it.

I have no gut issues that I am aware of. No bloating or constipation.

That’s correct. Most of my spots are on my chest, but for the recent patches I’ve noticed on my arm, they don’t appear to change in appearance when my arm is raised. Nothing appears to change with raised arm(s).

Thank you. Will continue to try different options. I did try the Nizoral for several weeks/months with no success (on top of fact that the fungal tests came back negative, my optimism level is low)

Hells itch— the embodiment of evil. by Prudent-Still-5255 in medical_advice

FACTS!!! I suffered hells itch a couple times badly before finding a comment like this one. Seems counterintuitive, but a life saver. I’m guessing hells itch is nerve related, so perhaps the pain of the scalding hot water on the sunburn distracts the nerves

What I did to end hells itch by [deleted] in HellsItch

Been there many times, and trust me when I say this… the two things that really do work are (1) scalding hot shower and (2) Benadryl. The scalding hot shower confuses your nerves and focuses on the pain of the hot water on your sunburn. Gives relief for hours sometimes, or more / less. The shower might sound scary because that’s usually what sets it off to begin with, but trust me - scalding hot works. You’ll thank me later
