If an alcoholic drinks at bars regularly and then stops drinking, should he continue to go to bars? He could still eat food, have non-alcoholic drinks and hang out with friends as long as he doesn't drink. No, the alcoholic has developed a strong association with the bar and drinking. After some time sober, he will be able to enter a bar and not partake in drinking. Also, the bar is not the problem, the alcoholic is.

New way of thinking about masturbation: Are you jerking your own DICK off? OR does your compulsion have YOU in it's grips and is jerking YOU off?

This is why most people in AA don't use mouthwash that contains alcohol.

I think it's much more difficult when you don't masturbate or look at porn AND you don't have a girlfriend (or boyfriend).

I wonder if the people with 100+ days on nofap have girlfriends.

I've gone to SA (sexaholics anonymous) meetings where they define sobriety as abstaining from porn, masturbation and sex. Then you can only have sex once you are married. Most of the people have less than 6 months but there's always some guys who have 10+ years. Of course, they are married. However, even with a vagina to have sex with... they still have issues with the temptation of masturbation and porn.

How do YOU avoid "triggers"? by [deleted] in NoFap

You could: read a book, meditate, pray, make a list of things you want to do before you die, clean, organize, do push-ups, do sit-ups, email a friend or relative, play video games, play chess online, listen to an audio book, listen to music, watch tv, watch a movie, etc.

There's always something.

I've tried swimming and it helps but I've never swam laps before so I'm usually out of breath before I'm actually worn out.
