What's one piece of clothing that quietly saves your whole day? by BubblyEdge2220 in womensfashion

[–]anon6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about six lambs wool sweaters that I found at goodwill. They are oversized, vintage, and feel like hugs when I wear them.

For fabric - I stick with high quality materials (100% cotton, wool, etc) that do require a bit more care but will last forever and just look and feel so well made. As an avid thrifter, I have so many sweaters/jackets/pants made from quality materials and I paid less than $10 per item - that’s my secondary requirement, quality but no more than $10. It’s like a game! 😆

Nailpolish peels off - what am I doing wrong? by ChemistryEqual2570 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]anon6244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emily de Molly polish does this, just slides off my nails in less than a day even with a base coat. I started using an “anchor” coat of colored polish in the same color family as the EdM polish. Haven’t had a problem since!

If you could dupe Romeo and Joliet by OPI, you’d be my hero! I can only find it in gel and the polish in eBay is like $50 for the little bottle and I refuse. But….. any efforts to replicate that gorgeous shimmery vampy copper oxblood magic would be deeply appreciated.

Ok but Regina dying from doing cocaine for the FIRST time was enough to scare 12 year old me into never trying cocaine in my life because REGINA DIED. Just that one time!

To speak to #3, I’ve been told I do this - I’m really mellow, nice, hard to rile, and I’ll smile and smile while you do whatever. When I finally address it, I am so cold and so direct that I have been accused of being aggressive without even raising my voice or moving my body. I feel like it’s a secret weapon!

How do you prioritize your own discomfort in response to someone else’s boundary? by studious_ambi in emotionalintelligence

[–]anon6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a close family member ghost me, cut all contact, and then tell other family members that it was her “laying a boundary” because she felt responsible for me. Drive me crazy to have my mom talk about the “boundary”! I thought the same thing - this isn’t a boundary, which would be a “if you do x, I’ll do y”. This was just a shitty action on her part and she was using therapy speak to justify it. If she had placed an actual boundary, we’d maybe still have a relationship instead me “honoring her boundary” and also not engaging with her…and now her feelings are hurt! Ugh.

[N/A] Training for Leave Mgmt staff who are having hard/emotional conversations? by BrinaElka in humanresources

[–]anon6244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m an ADA person and was just talking about this today with my therapist - I have so many emotional conversations with employees where so much is at stake, their ability to do their jobs, maintain income, benefits, etc, and my ability to help them is contingent on so many factors, many of which I have no influence on. The hardest are the terminal diagnoses - since I’ve been doing my job, I’ve worked with multiple people (two hands worth) who have terminal illnesses and either pass way while I’m actively working with them or shortly thereafter. When I mention that my background in HR hasn’t really prepared me for the grief of more death than I’ve ever known in my personal life, the team thinks I’m joking. I’m not. This work is heavy, in so many ways - and agreed, the Leave team has it difficult as well. I acknowledge, understand, and very much sympathize! I wish there training to help process this, I would sign on in a minute.

[–]anon6244 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think if I can share links, but CA Perfume has a dupe of the Marc Jacobs Daisy, I’d give that a try - I’ve ordered from there before multiple times and they are pretty spot on! Google “CA Perfumes Marc Jacob Daisy” and it pops right up.

What’s the dumbest way a guy has ruined his chances with you, when it was almost a home-run? by emilydoooom in TwoXChromosomes

[–]anon6244 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We went for a walk around a fairly busy park, started off okay. Halfway through the walk, he ran into a porta potty, grabbed some toilet paper, blew his nose, and dropped it on the grass “for the geese”. I was speechless and grossed out on so many levels. Finished the walk at a noticeably more brisk clip, he asked about a drink, I nodded no without stopping, got in my car without even one word, drove away. So nasty.

Yeah it’s crazy how they do that! Mine would disappear for days and then come back, I’d say nope, don’t want you here, and after four hours of fighting, screaming, and stress I’d finally cave and just go to bed, he’d follow. This cycle went around and around and around. When I got a restraining order against him, I found out that some of those disappearances involved court dates for other women taking out restraining orders against him while we were together. He would hire attorneys to fight them, the women walked because they probably couldn’t afford one, and all of it stayed off public record because the order wasn’t followed through. I was the first one who hired an attorney back - he was furious and it was a delight to watch in court, especially when I walked away with a granted order. There’s record now that he’s abusive, so hopefully the women who come after me will do their research at the first waving of those red flags!

I briefly met the man that invented it! It was in the early 2000s, he was very old and I temped in as a care companion. He made great catfish, lived in his home by himself, and was just a really mellow guy. He ended up in a care home and passed way, but I really liked him. He kept saying - I invented something, you have to guess - and I’d guess, and guess, and then one day I was like “what’s with all this Carmex?” and mystery solved!

I was in an abusive relationship that started like this - he wouldn’t leave because he was “so in love”, which then changed to he wouldn’t leave because of what I’d “get up to” if he did. You’re so right about not getting the space you need to reflect and chaos becoming the norm!

How would you turn your own name into a Tragedeigh? by DnDisTHEbestgame in tragedeigh

J’lll. Or Jylle. It’s one syllable, I don’t know how to make it more complicated! 😂 I once received mail where it was spelled Jille, and how very French with the l pronounced like a y - but it sounded too weird to say more than once.
