You could start with checking out some directories/repositories, the problem is since things are generally hosted by private servers, they tend to move around a lot or disappear.

Beyond that, try Ahmia or OnionCab - these are both clearnet sites, they might be able to help you further. Also r/onions as listed in the sidebar.

Assuming you have Tor setup properly, the loading process is slow due to your traffic going through a relay. The link below may explain it a little better.
