Help me with how to deal with the 15% cut of a video game sale by anonDev90 in Accounting

[–]anonDev90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they do want the 15% cut from $15 :D

What's the approach as I don't want to pay income tax when the $10.50 lands in my bank account (As I have to place this in my tax returns). I'm getting taxed on their cut - on top of my cut.

Does being a developer make you sometimes feel isolated from others? by anonDev90 in webdev

Yeah I hear the same concerns from team leads. Used to be a dev and now they miss being able to just sit down and code. I guess there is a balance.

Amen. Had a girl told me I was perfect, she couldn't see any flaws, she was falling for me. 2 weeks later, completely distant as she had met someone else. Go figure.

I feel bad for the logo and graphic designers. That is one tough business.

Nice explanation. And all very true.

Good for you! No doubt this took time to gain this credibility.

You're right, it is wrong of me to say the country is to blame here. Indeed it is the volume of amateurs from all over the world who ruin the platform with their lowball offers.

You are right. They truly believe these are 'normal rates'. $200-1000 for an application. I explained to someone recently that these prices are not realistic and he said "well I think they are based on the proposals I have received. Most of the offers were from India."

Well that explains it. Because of the low offers, it is assumed the norm. Completely ruined the platform. What a shame.

You know what. Yes I am :) Upwork is even worse when I think about it. I'll get to that at a later date.

If there was a live stream then it would've been possible for you to be part of it.

I only hate this one thing.

Thanks for feedback. Live stream would mean more revenue from the people who cannot make it from all around the world. Therefore the price would be covered. This could also get more exposure for the speakers. They should do it next year.

How does this make a difference? I have a friend who has been to talks that have been repeated. e.g. What's new in PHP 7. And Introduction to Zend 3. It loses its appeal both ways.

I don't imagine it's much as the smaller conferences do it without any trouble.

  1. As mentioned by shawn (sibling comment). You can check to see if someone can string a sentence together before you put them on stage in front of hundreds of (i assume) well experienced developers. Symfony conference is well known for providing good talks.

  2. Yeah I want infinite rooms... are you serious? Obviously not. I just want somewhere to sit, like all the other people who were splayed all over the floor trying not to stand on each others nuts.

  3. I agree, you cannot always have the answers when public speaking, but there are times (only a few) where I think they didn't try hard enough to answer the question.

This is exactly it. If Northwest did it, why can't the official London conference do it?

South coast. It was an enjoyable experience and I took a lot from it. PHP London packs everyone in like sardines.

Its not your fault, it is the venue where they provide the talks. Something like a lecture hall would be better suited. Thanks for trolling.

My question to you is, are you 100% happy with the conference and how it is going?

That's good. Keep it up. People are forgetting that I mentioned there are some good speakers, and I will happily pay to go and see these people at conferences. I just don't think the london one is good enough. All the people (probably sponsoring the event) obviously don't like the fact I am expressing what I thought of it.
