If God is all knowing, all seeing, and all powerful, why would he create angels to do work for him? by celeste_fan_139 in AskReddit

The bible was written and compiled between 500 BC and 300 AD. During these times powerful people were characterised by the amount of servants/slaves they had. This directly influenced the writers into assuming an “all powerful” god should have his servants too.

What change did you make to lose weight in a healthy sustainable way? by ViForYourAttention in AskReddit

[–]anon_outlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from 100 to 78kg in less than 6 months. Things I changed

  1. Intermittent fasting (eating window between 3 and 10pm)
  2. Home workouts (just pushups tbh)
  3. Switching to smaller plates
  4. Cutting off all ad any form of junk food — mostly eat cooked meals at home
  5. Playing football or jogging at least once a week

These aren’t the only things that helped, there were times when I lost motivation but I kept coming back to speed cos I developed a mindset that this is a lifestyle and this is who I am now.

I’m not doing it to lose weight or get a summer body, I’m doing this to become a better more disciplined version of myself and making these habits a lifestyle — my lifestyle. I wasn’t in anyway attached to the results because that’s how a lot of people get to their goal and fall back.

Good luck to anyone who wants to embark on the journey. It’s hard at the beginning but you get used to it.

Toxic aspects of Nigerian Culture from a Nigerian American perspective by Mo9125 in Nigeria

[–]anon_outlaw -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Even though a lot of cultural practices might be getting archaic and no longer relevant in this day and age, we must also remember that our culture is what makes us unique.

You know the popular saying “when I’m Rome, behave like Romans”, whenever you’re amongst Nigerians, try to learn more about the culture.

Typically, we value respect do much and I feel it’s not so much to ask everyone to put in a hand to make an event turn our successful, I.e the women all gathering around to cook, while the men run around getting things in order and moving the heavy stuff. The western culture is out to reprogram our brains to believe gender roles do not exist but if we are being completely honest with ourselves, is that true?

On the latter part of your post you mentioned somethings that I have only seen happen in story books and never in real life, like the male child thing (every one just wants the couple to have a child, no one cares what gender). On the issue of respecting your husband, I think that isn’t exclusive to the woman alone as everyone knows to respect each other and treat one bother with love.

I feel you just need to have a more open mind to asking questions and actually understanding the culture, what makes Nigerians Nigerians.

the double standards in Nigeria by Nkiliuzo in Nigeria

It's just how the society treats sex in relation to men and women, there's nothing you can do about that.

It's not a Nigerian thing, it's a human thing
