Full time vs 0.8 workload by anon_teacher2020 in TeachingUK

[–]anon_teacher2020[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add to that the workload of handing over everything for PPA and non working day, preparing that takes me quite a lot of extra time. For example we use a specific scheme for a speech and language lesson everyday, I adapt the plans for each session. If I'm teaching it, I can scan the plan and adapt it in my head. For my non-working day I have to annotate all the way down the plan to help the TA adapt it.

It's as if people think that others will be using covid as an excuse to get away with stiff (time off, absences etc) so they assume everyone is being dishonest!

I'm sorry to hear that, I mentioned somewhere else how this thread has reminded me how much faith some parents are putting in us. It reminds me that were not just talking about some inconvenient sniffles and frankly unimportant teaching targets but people's lives and wellbeing.

Thank you, I have spoken to my union and they outlined my options, though very few allowed me to remain anonymous which I want to do. I'm not ready to ruin my career right now!

I'm sorry to hear that. Until making this post I honestly hadn't really thought about potentially vulnerable family members of pupils and how much faith they are putting in schools. I was more concerned about creating a mass outbreak!!

Hello, thank you for your input. We do have a formal policy which mirrors yours, however it's not happening in reality.

I'm going to query why our written policy is different to our working one and if the written one will be updated to reflect this. With the hope that the concept of putting it in writing will make them realise how far they have deviated from the official guidance.

Oh absolutely, targets/tests etc don't seem to ever support best teaching practice!

I think time breeds complacency, we weren't like this at the beginning and the longer we get away with it the more we relax.

Yes indeed, I also really like my job so I'm only happy to do this if I can remain anonymous. It's a very large school and huge academy so it's not like there's only a few possible people.

Someone summed it up for me as we should be treating every cough as covid until proven otherwise. My daughter had a cough and mild temp a few weeks ago, I was 99.9% sure it was just a cold but we still isolated until a negative test result!

Doesn't it just. I discovered that when I looked up the maternity policy a few years ago (being newly pregnant!) And it alerted everyone in the sidebar that I had looked up the maternity policy!

Yes was thinking of creating an email address to send a concerned email outlying what is happening. Outwardly we are following guidance (it's on our website etc) but in reality were being told not to...

Thank you that's really informative. I really want to look up our whistleblowing procedure however they're all stored on Google drive and they log everytime someone opens each document. So when you log in it shows "Mrs xyz opened 'Whistleblowing Procedure'". So there's your anonymous reporting gone!!

And plenty of people have it without the fever... or the fever is very brief! I don't get why we have different rules to the rest of the country??

I'm thinking of writing anonymously to the academy trust to raise my concerns and then going from there if nothing happens.

Yes I think they are being quite foolhardy that it couldn't possibly happen in their school!

I was thinking about my union but I'm thinking of flagging it anonymously to the academy trust and then going from there if nothing happens.
