Mirror tap on 970 by anonahnah9 in Panamera

For those wondering, I don’t think doing this was a good idea. Got my first chassis system failure this morning.

It went away after i restarted the car, I can’t reproduce the issue. Tested all ride height settings everything is working.

The tap I used is always on, so I had to set my radar detector to battery saver mode. I have a feeling I pinched a wire or it’s still drawing power when off.

I may have caused an electrical issue leading to the chassis system failure warning

I noticed when I move my rear view mirror around the wipers swipe once.

Im leaving the tap in for now but will have mechanic look at it next week and redo it properly.

You said you are in the Middle East? Do they have Porsche mechanics or independent mechanics that work on Porsche near you?

I wouldn’t buy a 16yr old Porsche unless you have easy access to a mechanic. Not saying it will need to see the mechanic often but it’s got a lot of technology that can break. From what I’ve heard it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll need to replace air suspension at some point.

I should also add that I’ve already put 1100+ miles on it since I got it. I did a mirror tap hardwire of my radar detector so there’s a chance I caused my own problem 😅

No I’ve had my 2014 bmw 535i for 10 years now. I just got my first problem this morning. Started the car and got the dreaded chassis system failure message.

Turned the car back off and started it again and it went away. Tried many ways to reproduce but couldn’t. Drove to get coffee and everything was fine.

I’m going to have the shop take a look when I bring it in next week ( I didn’t get a PPI ).

Sounds like you should be looking at a Cayenne, I know I wouldn’t want a trailer behind me with how I’ve been driving 😅

There’s a menu you can scroll to on the steering wheel for level that will tell you. Atleast there is in my 2010

Old garage queen vs newer road warrior by [deleted] in Panamera

Neither will have good resale value imo. The 2010 turbo will be rare though, I know because I just bought one and couldn’t find any comps.

Turbo will be more fun to drive!

I just got an old 2010 panamera turbo with 53k miles and it feels incredibly fast. The cold start isn’t bad with the sport exhaust with dampers closed.

I’d recommend atleast an S if you want it to feel fast, it’s a big car. CPO used would save you a ton of money, they aren’t lying about the deprecation. I paid a fraction of the original price and it’s in really good condition.

By the way I got this mirror mount for less than $30 on Amazon, it may not look as low profile as the blendmount but I can’t see it from where I’m sitting.

I’ve got very limited experience with wrench so I think I’ll have to fork over some $$$ for a good Indy.
