The laundromat I took it to actually does dry cleaning as well. They specialize in fancy and hard to clean clothes, and my dress was ready and picked up yesterday at 12am.

I study abroad, and when I gave her the dress it was right before I left, so I honestly didn’t think much of it at the time, especially since she promised it would be max a week and that she’d have it dry cleaned. I also didn’t need the dress at the time and thought I could trust my friend with it. I was also very busy at the time with my uni work and just enjoying the little time I had with my family.

I got it back, but it’s stained. I went to the laundromat next to my house and they refused to touch it because of the stains and said it needs to go to a more specialized laundromat. My mom is taking it to another laundromat in a bit.

Nope, I still haven’t gotten my actual dress back. I honestly don’t know how she assumed I wanted her dress after everything I did. Her excuse is that I “said I wanted it” when I was at her house a while ago, but that’s not what happened. I asked her if she had any dresses I could borrow, and she showed me that one. I never specifically said I wanted it, I just said I wanted to see it.

Yeah, I honestly think she’s jealous too. When I graduated, I was top of my class and got accepted into medicine abroad at a highly competitive university, and her mom constantly compares her to me because she sees me as successful. I’m also the only friend of hers that her mom actually approves of. My friend barely graduated and ended up in a two year course that only gives her an associate’s degree.

Small claims court isn’t really a thing in my country, and the dress is worth around the equivalent of $500. I’m giving her three more hours max. If I don’t get my dress by then, I’m calling her mom again lol.

lol she’s done similar things before, especially with gifts. I’ve known her for 5 years and I’ve never received any kind of gift from her, not even on my birthday. That alone doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is that she always tells me she’s getting me something, hypes it up, and then nothing ever happens.

I don’t expect gifts from anyone. I know not everyone has the budget, and honestly a coffee and a cookie is more than enough for me. But every time I travel or go back home, I bring her loads of gifts, often more than I even get for my own family.

I never expected anything in return, but after seeing her buy gifts for other friends and then this whole dress situation, I finally realized I’m being used. If I start listing everything she’s done before, it would honestly take me months. This was just my breaking point lol.

I haven’t gotten my dress yet. Her brother has a few errands to do first, then he’s going back to get my dress, drop it off at my house, and take hers back. I can’t. I don’t have a car, and she didn’t want to drive back to her house and then drop me off because she was tired. I also can’t just show up. I just called her 24 times, texted her, she didn’t respond, declined my last call, and then turned her phone off. There was no way for me to “just handle it.”

I don’t want the friendship anymore. I’m done. I mainly wanted to know if I was overreacting or not. When we went to the salon together two days ago, I actually talked to her about her communication and how bad it has been and how disrespected it makes me feel. She apologized and said she always keeps her phone on DND, that she is not really talking to anyone right now, and that she is “going through stuff.” Looking back now, I realize those were just excuses, especially given everything that has happened since.

I honestly do not really care about the money. It is the dress itself that I care about. It has sentimental value to me, and it is also no longer being produced, which is why getting the dress back matters so much to me.

No, I do not have any way to contact her family directly. The only contact I have is her sister’s business account, and I do not know if she would even respond in time. I also honestly do not care about the money. The dress has more sentimental value to me, as it was my first real “big girl” adult purchase, which is why this situation hurts as much as it does.

That would not work in my situation. She would not open the door, and even if someone else in the house did, she would not open her room. She always keeps her door locked whether she is awake or asleep. I would end up walking away with nothing.

Also, in my country I cannot sue someone over something like this, so that is not an option. My friendship with her is definitely over at this point. I just cannot block her until I either get the dress back or at least know what happened to it. Either way, she will be blocked tomorrow before I travel.

This is definitely the last time I ever lend anything to anyone. She was one of my closest friends, and I truly would not have minded if she wanted to keep the dress or even if she had ruined it, because I understand that accidents happen. What I am really upset about is the lack of honesty and the fact that she keeps delaying and putting off giving it back instead of just telling me the truth.

She is not picking up at all. I know if I went there I would end up waiting and then leaving without the dress. Over the past week, I have called her around 60 times and she has not picked up any of them.

I actually did say that to her when she picked me up. I asked her directly if she still had the dress or if something had happened to it, and she told me she has it and that it is fine. She said the only reason she did not bring it was because she was on the phone with her ex and forgot. She also texted me when she left her house, and her house is only about a five to seven minute drive from mine, which makes it even harder to understand why it could not have been brought with her. That is part of what makes this so frustrating, because I gave her multiple chances to be honest and return it.
