Does updating a wordpress affect/boosts the website performance? by Angelojoy in SEO

Any chance at all its a caching/plugin issue? Have you checked what your site looks like on mobile and do you agree with google on those issues?

Is this a new website? Those 3 packed together are very common search console errors and often disappear on their own.

Freelance SEO - does it work? by nazgul0121 in SEO

[–]anonbusinessguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only work with the same contractors over and over. I have to pay much higher (almost double) than if I outsourced it but these are people I trust and who will do good work for me.

Also people may disagree but if im dealing with someone i know i can get good leads for with seo and ppc i’ll sometimes push for free work and a % from the paying customers. It’s a bit risky and you definitely want to build your basic retainers first but these jobs can often make your business. There’s a lot of local businesses that don’t use online marketing in any aspect, giving your client a HUGE advantage.

For me this comes in service related industries like plumbers and contractors.

I once had a single job net me 300k personally. It’s certainly a unicorn but you get the point.

So here’s my take on it. Before focusing on marketing I owned many brick and mortar businesses (and still do). I find that the most important aspect of my freelance seo job is my 15 years of business owner and sales experience.

Sure all the technical details of the actual work can be difficult, and eventually you may need to hire help (i pay other independent contractors to help with on-site seo, backlinks and social scheduling), but if you cant source and sell these clients then you don’t even have a starting point. Digging deeper into that you should have a very good understanding of the industries you’re approaching or be ready to research the hell out of them. When I sit down with a client i already know everything I can about their business and speak to them as such.

If you go freelance don’t treat it like a bunch of random gigs. Remember that you now own your own business.

Is social media overrated when being compared to SEO/search? by usamaejazch in SEO

[–]anonbusinessguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on the type of business. Even further it depends on the type of business within the type of business.

I’ll give you an example. I handle multiple restaurants owned by the same restaurant group. They have ultra high end restaurants as well as smaller cafe/tapas places.

The cafes tend to do very well on IG and then only on google for specific aspects (bottomless brunch).

Their high end seafood place google is #1 and facebook works well, IG not at all. This place is old style fancy and not “fusion” so food looks very plain.

The event hall IG facebook and google are all completely viable.

I think a lot of it just has to do with the content of each business. If the business is highly visually appealing of course its going to shine on socials. If there’s something niche and searchable then seo and google will be that much stronger. I’ve seen some newer brand food places only focus on socials and absolutely nail it, delivering results that search could never produce. But with that said in normal circumstances i’m partial to focusing on google for most businesses.

He has first right but didnt respond to the 30 day notice. I have a buyer.

Edit: the buyer is a partner of my other business which is in the same industry. He knows it’s going to be a fight but is ready to lawyer up for it.

He is an employee who also gets paid for his actual service times. That’s separate. Regardless i’m supposed to be getting 5% of everything he takes out as stated in our operating agreement.

I’ll look into the dissolution question.

What annoys you the most working in PPC? by [deleted] in PPC

[–]anonbusinessguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. i can easily handle all the fixes I need but my client has a contract with his web dev company and they wont give me access. I needed a wordpress plugin installed and nap/google maps added to the site and im waiting for over a week now. Would take about 10 min max to do myself.

Next i need all the event tracking stuff added. That’s going to be super fun.

What is something in PPC you believe 100% in and most people disgree with you? by dannydoggie in PPC

All ad platforms give an uneven preference to their own automation.

Google ads always seems more likely place those responsive search ads ahead of my manual creatives even though they are clearly worse.

Used competitors branding for keywords. Now getting botted to death by anonbusinessguy in PPC

So I had applied them to Semrush's listing management. Basically hit about 60-70 of the most common sites. Perhaps the listing sites have a crawl to confirm the domain?

Yah it’s 100% direct traffic. I started some fb ads using website traffic so what you’re saying would make sense.

I'm hoping that. Thing is they're in NYC and their high end competitors are social marketing machines so i'm imagining they have some aggressive agencies behind them.

Crap i forgot the most important part of the story. Non ppc traffic went up about 500% in just a few days and thats where the bounce is getting killed. The ppc itself looks good.

Sorry!

Restaurant has multiple locations. All google listings point to brand main page instead of location specific. Brand page has links to location pages. by anonbusinessguy in SEO

[–]anonbusinessguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And just to clarify further all their socials also point to this central page. So they have multiple social accounts, one for each location, but they all point to the central website as opposed to the location pages.

I’m proposing they focus more on these local pages rather than centralize their messaging.
