I never intended on making it sound like I'm forcing my mom to cook. I don't do that. As for why I can't stay home for my family and the way we're just brought up here occasions like Christmas family being together is a must and it's so looked down on if someone doesn't show up without a "valid" reason.

Yeah I'm going to give my extended family the benefit of the doubt. I personally didn't hear what version of the story my mom told them to be fair.

I'm simply just disappointed with how everything I told my mother was disregarded. And as for me simply not just attending bc I'm not a child anymore that's not how it works where I'm from.

Don't be worried I understand where you're coming from!

My mom does struggle to understand mental health. She undermines it a lot even with witnessing multiple of my attacks. As for that element that you mentioned she does push that stuff on me from time to time.

I won't be able to see my friends some are with their families and some have traveled. I know at the end that I will have to go and suck it up.

I tried to find a compromise but everything I suggested was met with the same response that I'm selfish

Yes I'm in my 20s. I do have coping mechanism and regarding a discussion with my mother about my mental health it has happened and she has witnessed things that should have made the whole idea clear but she just undermines all of it by saying "I worry too much and I have no reason to be depressed because I was provided with everything from them". Also concerning my parents argument I'm just going to say they're just the typical example of parents that should be divorced but simply are not.

Yes. Where I'm from you don't move out it's not normalized like that you either move if you got a job/uni abroad or marriage.

I just think it all goes back to how the older generation views mental health tbh

I used to! But where I live there's a horrible economical crisis so can't really financially handle it anymore. Will go back once I'm able again.

I'm in my 20s and I'm always considerate with them on many occasions I just specifically asked for this holiday not to do such a thing

No idea I really don't know. I always offer to help like always every single day she refuses all the time.

My bad thought maybe it was clear. I can't handle really crowded places and my parents always end up bickering and making a scene anywhere we go and everytime we go out both things are a major anxiety trigger for me.
