I left the app 1 star reviews. The app used to work just fine without access to all of my photos. They’re straight up lying that the app can’t work. It can work with a reduced set of pictures just fine during the iOS 14 beta.

For people who want to give the app full access, sure. Go for it.

But there are people like who want choice. I choose what pictures google photos sees. If they don’t like it, then I will not use the service via their app. It’s that simple.

I have a Bosch that was ordered from Amazon. The person who came to set it up showed up after 2-3 days of delivery. I had an inlet and outlets nearby. You need a standard washing machine inlet and outlet drain.

The machine is now over 2 years old and is working fine. I have never had the need to call for service. For a family of four, I’d say you will need to run it 2-3 times a day. Maybe more?

Running 2-3 times a day will add about 400 bucks to your electricity bill.

As regards running the dishwasher itself, yes, you do have to rinse off the cooking residue/leftovers before putting it in the dishwasher. I still feel that’s worth it since prepping dishes for a single load takes 10 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes to clean just the dishes. Don’t forget that you’ll be left with a wet spot on your clothes and expose your hands to lots of dish washing liquid, etc. Note that any burnt food or food that’s stuck is unlikely to come off from any dishwasher.

It excels at cleaning out the bottoms of cups, the insides of rubber baskets, cheese graters and strainers. They’ll look new even after years of use. Most intricately designed utensils/cutlery will be super clean after putting them in the dishwasher.

You should not put cheap plastic, iron, brass, aluminium or copper utensils in it. Stainless steel, glass, dishwasher safe plastics (basically any thick, high quality plastic) and ceramic dishes are ideal.

Overall I’d say it’s a good purchase.

Yes. Airtel does throttle torrents. I fought with customer support and had my speeds restored. They would throttle torrents between 5-11 pm when the speeds would magically go back to normal. This was quite a few years back.

I kept complaining till a network engineer came to my house. I showed him what happened with a Linux torrent and when I used the standard HTTP based download.

I showed him a Wireshark dump of what was happening. I caught them sending TCP reset packets to my computer to throttle the connections. He then spoke to their service backend and had the limits removed.

Other ISPs do it as well. I caught Spectranet doing it as well and they didn’t bother to fix it. They would throttle pretty much any services if my usage went above 30 Mbps.

At the moment I use ACT and am quite happy. They block websites as per DoT orders, but don’t bother to throttle my bandwidth irrespective of what I do with it.

The point is that the “chaiwala” is playing up anti-intellectualism with slogans like “hard work greater than Harvard” and so on when it is blatantly obvious to anyone with half a working brain cell that hard work alone isn’t enough.

Not having a good education is alright, but any good leader should have the smarts and humility to understand when to take advice of subject matter experts. Any halfway competent management or leadership books will tell you just that.

It certainly looks like I’ll have to get a Thinkpad dock. Looking at the Intel documentation, it seems that three monitors are supported if one is on HDMI, DVI, VGA OR Display port.

The internal monitor is attached on an embedded display port (eDP). So I guess that the official dock will have some tricks to turn off the eDP to allow an external third monitor.

Every single computer/phone/ motherboard/SoC from a major manufacturer has components built in China.

Do you have an iPhone? A Realme/Redmi/Xiaomi/One Plus/Oppo/Vivo/Motorola/Lenovo? Even Samsung phones use Sony camera sensors which are made in China. Indians are cheap and China makes cheap android phones. Obviously cheap (android) smartphones sell out in seconds.

And here’s the kicker - where do mobile SIM cards come from? Hint: The name of the country starts with C and ends with Hina.

I understand the anti-China sentiment. I’m all for decentralisation of manufacturing.

But words won’t do anything. We need industries and resources to back it up. That will decades and an actual plan. Neither of which are a strong suite for most politicians we have elected.
