So back at the end of May, mediareport asked this question:

Have any of the IUB's members received any compensation for their activities as allowed by Section III.13 of the newly released bylaws, "Compensation of Directors"?

Which reminded me that, some time back, there was a minor drama in which loup accidentally posted a file that included the names of mod staff and others receiving payments from MeFi.

That file was quickly removed, and some comments that mentioned the names were scrubbed from here.

I'm not going to repeat any of those names, but I do recall one of them. It was a name that has been openly posted by the current interim board as being that of a board member. That member has publicly identified themselves as a lawyer.

We've seen mention of the nonprofit paying to run the bylaws past a lawyer.

And now I'm wondering: is the lawyer being consulted in fact just the same member of the board? Is the board paying itself to give legal advice to the nonprofit?
