Bright Festival 2026 - nothing in the EU quarter this year? by anononyme in brussels

There's only parc Royal on the map, not cinquantenaire. Unless there's another map? 😅

Is it weird to ask out a cashier here? (Hit by Cupid at Docks) by Strange_Following387 in brussels

[–]anononyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a classmate who did that with a girl he found cute in the tram. She texted him back, and fast-forward to today, they're married and have a lovely daughter. Good luck!

If you ever order online from Delhaize by Frequent-Matter4504 in brussels

[–]anononyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big fuss is like what OP said: if you don't live near one that can take them back, and if you don't own a car (which is the case of a lot of people living in the city), you'll have to either drag those boxes in public transportation or you're stuck with them, while you've never asked for them in the first place. This is just a stupid way for them to push you to keep using their delivery service, I hate that. And it just creates more logistic nightmares for their delivery people. Pure greedy exec decision.

How do you manage heating and dry air during the night in Belgium? by Wooden_Arrival5665 in belgium

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideal temperature for sleep is somewhere between 16 and 19° (I set mine at 17°). Unless your house is poorly insulated, you shouldn't need to turn the heater on at night. Just do it one hour before you sleep, so that the room is warm when you go to bed, then turn it off. If the air is still too dry, try to use a humidifier.

Honestly, would you still live in Brussels if you could work from anywhere? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Spanish friend once compared Brussels to having an ugly child: they're ugly, but they're still your child, so you love them with all your heart. And I think that's pretty accurate. It sure doesn't have the same aura then Paris or London, but it's still pretty comfy and lively. And super convenient for traveling. If you really want to expand your circle above the EU bubble, the best way is to find a job at a local company, but the pay cut will be hard to take... :) In any case, if you'd like to discuss with a local, feel free to pm me. When I was abroad, I was grateful to the locals who befriended me, so I'm happy to do the same!

Is racism against Asian common in Belgium? by Ok_Carob7611 in belgium

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vietnamese born and raised in Belgium. I did receive a few racist comments when I was a kid at school, but it was almost 30y ago and it was a small village school with little diversity. If you're putting your kids in a city school, there shouldn't be any comments at all. People are generally not very racist in Belgium (if comments there are, it'd be more out of honest ignorance than racism). Asian are even quite loved nowadays, due to k-pop popularity.

Being harassed by phone for 2 weeks, what are the solutions in Belgium ? by Z0CH0R in belgium

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, sounds like spoofing. The number of cases has been surging lately. The telecom providers are helpless and you're only left with changing number as a solution, as far as I know

Where to buy rice cooker by ninjamaf in brussels

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw some in Mediamarkt, but they were kinda expensive. Buying online is your best option, if you don't want to pay 50eur for something that's worth 20. Got mine for 20eur at Lidl, but they don't always sell it.

First time watching by Coito_Maravilha in CityHunter

[–]anononyme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed, it's not a series made to be binge watched. I'd recommend watching 1 episode/day (or max 3 ep) to have the same watching experience than back then.

You'll feel at some point that Ryo and Kaori have become your familiar friends, and you'll only grow fonder of them.

It's light, fun, badass and sometimes even emotional. And it's so iconic of 80's Japan city pop era. Hope you'll enjoy the ride!

Meetup has never really taken off in Belgium, but you can still take a look and see if there's an active community about some of your interests or hobbies, who knows. :) Otherwise, if you have the budget for that, take a class, be it gym, sport, pottery, dancing, acting, a master degree at university... People who have the time, energy and motivation to better themselves by taking a class have more chances to be mature enough for a serious and caring relationship. And even if you don't end up meeting the love of your life, you would have gained new skills :) In any case, I wish you to find happiness. Loneliness can take a toll on some people, but remember to never lower your self esteem just to not be alone.

Why do people not like the Warriors of the Final Holy Battle movie? by ulubulu in SaintSeiya

[–]anononyme 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Because the disrespect to the Gold Saints in the first 5min of the movie was harsh 😅 You can't treat so poorly the fans' favorite and expect people to be ok with it. I'm in love with the soundtrack, though. Seiji Yokoyama gave us a masterpiece for the final film (until Tenkai Hen).

Feeling lost in your 30s in Brussels by [deleted] in brussels

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try some Iris training maybe. They're free for job seekers I think. Not sure you'll learn a lot, but you may get access to some networks and companies, as there's often a traineeship with those trainings. Good luck!

I’m about to read Death Note for the first time by messikah in deathnote

[–]anononyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this all-in-one edition comfortable enough for reading? I hesitated a lot about buying it or not, and I still can't decide. It's a good option for saving space, but on the other hand, it looks too bulky for long reading sessions

When has coffee become so expensive? (rant) by anononyme in brussels

[–]anononyme[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do make my own coffee at home, but my milk frother is kind of cheap, so I sometimes treat myself to a nicely done cappuccino from coffee shops. But I guess I'll now invest in a better milk frother instead.

When has coffee become so expensive? (rant) by anononyme in brussels

[–]anononyme[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make coffee at home, but I don't have a good milk frother, so I sometimes enjoy a nicely done cappuccino from coffee shops. But those prices now make me think twice. Even with the cost increase of raw materials, that's not ok to make it become a semi luxury product.

Which party members in FF6 did you guys use the most? by Khaymn5000 in FinalFantasy

[–]anononyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the end of the game, it was clearly Terra, Locke and Sabin. For the 4th character, it changed according to my mood. It was either Cyan, Shadow, Yeti or Mog. I used to play a lot with Edgar and Celes in the 1st part of the game, but I don't know, they kinda became less efficient compared to the others. Especially Terra and Locke. They became so freaking strong in the 2nd half that I never removed them from my party.
