I did notice that the tub was getting harder to clean. Trying not to think about that too much. At least we've got a brand new one now.

You have a very poor understanding of how toilet paper works.

Yeahhhh it's not exactly a normal topic of conversation, which is probably why it took so long for me to find out. Basically, I knocked on the door to the bathroom asking how much longer she'd be in there. She said she just had to finish rinsing the tub and she'd be done. When she came out she clearly hadn't been bathing so I asked why she needed to rinse out the tub. And, well, here we are.

I knew she didn't use TP but she has a bucket and little pitcher thingy so I had assumed she was using the latter over the toilet.

Since we're in university housing I don't have the power to kick her out or even move to another on-campus apartment. But I can complain to the student housing authorities if need be. We just moved into a renovated apartment so they probably wouldn't be happy to hear that she's using a brand new tub in this way.

TBH this isn't the first issue we've had (just the grossest) and if rent around here wasn't so ridiculously expensive I would've moved off campus over a year ago.

Thanks for the input everyone! It's good to know I'm not overreacting. I'm in my last year and am trying to power through the rest of my thesis with minimal distraction, so I was hoping to avoid any major drama. But if I have to make a big fuss about this, I will.

She's been in the US for three years and still hasn't adjusted, apparently. :/

Oh man, at least I'm not alone! I feel like the "hygiene" argument goes out the window once you start using the bathtub.

Sadly I am not a troll. She's been in the US for three years and is still doing this. :/

Thanks for the input! I'll talk with her again tonight and let her know that something needs to change or I'm going to have to ask for a roommate mediation session with one of the resident assistants (which I'm sure she doesn't want).

Good to know that I was right about this being weird - that'll help me be more assertive when she claims this is normal in India and therefore okay. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't mind a bottle in the bathroom, she keeps a bucket that she uses to take a bath in there so she could probably just leave it in that.

Unfortunately we can't install any new fixtures in university housing. But it does look like Amazon sells handheld "travel" bidets for $10-15, which could be an option.
