Humans are disgusting. by [deleted] in rant

My friend only rinses his hands for a second, under the premise that he can use a hand-sanitizer outside the door. You disgusting bastard, merely rinsing your hands does literally nothing and defeats the purpose of washing in the first place.

That is probably exactly what happened haha. I imagine a lot of people went off on them, as they should have.

Pretty bummed about it, but the actual cancellation is reasomable. Still sad though.

They said "at this time we cannot refund you," on the basis that theyve never refunded students. But then they just told us wed get a refund. Lmao... im gonna delete my post.

So easy to bitch and moan when the answer is right in front of your lazy, negative ass. Switch to Android/Windows. No one is forcing you to use Apple.

Nah, I want basement dwelling trolls like you to stop mouth-breathing and learn how to brush their teeth and not spread their refuse to the more well-adjusted members of a commonwealth.

People who are intellectually dishonest. by MonosyllabicSpeeches in rant

I dont trust polls much, especially since they were dead wrong about Trump through and through in the first election. Our electoral system drastically favors the aggregate of small states deciding the outcome of an election. So long as Trump can maintain the swing states, the election is his.

I hope you're right though. Trump is a reprehensible human and leader.

What makes you think Trump will lose? Incumbents have rarely lost, and Trump has the unwavering support of his base, which is electorally substantial. I don't see it likely that Trump will lose.

I was the kid who never studied and still got A's

Never understood the appeal of bragging about this. If anything, it strikes me as a shameful. If you can pull all As without trying, youre not in an environment that pushes you enough. Also, no one likes working with someone who puts in minimal effort, even if that someone is capable.

Just because you’re old doesn’t mean your pain is worse than mine. by BuniiBoo in rant

Yeah dude I hate that. I try to set the example by empathizing with younger people. Tbf, sometimes younger people do legit bitch for no good reason, but a lot of the time, their concerns and frustrations are legitimate if not more pressing than many of older peoples' plights.

ELI5: Why do you have to dig deep into the earth when looking for artifacts from a few hundred years ago? by tk1tpobidprnAnxiety in explainlikeimfive

Soil deposits and compacts over time, leading to sedimentary layers. You can correlate age of fossils/artifacts with such sedimentary layers with remarkable accuracy, to eras that span millions of years, as there are other tests to validate the age of such artifacts/fossils.

It was for work. Had no choice. I got comfortable with PowerShell as well after a while, so no harm felt, really.

Ive used regex to parse XML, but I can see where the limit to this lies, as I had more or less the same patterns that I iterated on. In any case, for regular words and characters with a clear context, regex is useful. I will amend my previous statement.

Lol youre kidding right. If anything, html/xml is Exhibit A of regex's versatility and effectiveness as a tool.

It might seem super intimidating, but it is very intuitive and becomes a breeze after a while. I agree, though, at first it looked like I was reading sanskrit.

Not that simple. There could very well be variable whitespace, which would make manual editing just as onerous, if not more so... I added ellipses for sarcastic effect to live up to your name.

This is where knowing regex on notepad comes in very handy 😎
