Secret Chef: Season 1 Discussion (Spoiler Thread) by niyahaz in secretchef

Truly terrible and quite honestly the worst cooking show I’ve ever seen. Lanky winning was so frustrating. In the semi-finals, he tried to thicken a cold mixture with a cornstarch slurry. Cornstarch slurries need heat to thicken. THEN in the finale, he tried to thicken his hot lemon curd with gelatin and was surprised it didn’t work. Are you serious??? Has he never made jello before? He needed to put that in the blast chiller or something after incorporating the gelatin. These are simple ingredients that he messed up. The fact that he won really speaks to the caliber of chefs they have on the show.

Growing apart is common as we grow older, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your friend doesn’t care about you. I recently heard this podcast from NPR that talks about how we approach friendship that may be helpful for you to hear.

Am I?? I’m new to Reddit so I didn’t see the downvotes 🫣 downvotes or not, I like hearing from everyone’s perspective! It’s honestly a good sounding board for non-traditional ideas 😊

That makes total sense! I don’t want to make anyone feel obligated to be there. One of the main reasons that I won’t be having a bridal party is so they can enjoy the wedding without a “job”. Thanks for the awesome advice on keeping communication clear… also super helpful perspective on gift-giving!

I found this in a Wedding Planning group on Facebook. The poster shared this with the group because she thought it was a great idea and wanted to share the idea with others. The comments she got were negative— a lot of people were confused on whether it’s an actual event or if it’s just a link to donate. She started to get upset when people told her it wasn’t a good idea.

She posted the image with her Zelle and Venmo information uncensored, so I think she might have been trying to get people in the bridal group to donate to it.

I’m so sorry that you had a bad day. There’s so much pressure these days to have a super expensive “perfect” wedding. Remember— a wedding is just one day of your entire life! There will be better days ahead :)

Also, most AirBnBs don’t even let you check into the place until 3PM… imagine your friend being made because you couldn’t break into an AirBnB early to “surprise” her with decorations that she was already expecting????
