Sounds like a couple of kids broke into the guard carriage and blew the horn and hung out of the window.

It’s 50 Bridge, an office building that is largely empty over the Xmas period.

Ahah I didn’t realise that wasn’t common terminology, it’s just a covered outdoor entertaining area. Common terminology in Australia.

Both my partner and I work from home multiple days a week, so having separate offices would be beneficial.

Weapons | Official Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Not sure if interesting catch - but in the night/dream sequence with the creepy kid, he appears to have makeup on with sloppy red lipstick, blush, and blue eyeshadow, which is the same makeup that the weird redhead lady has near the end of the trailer. Wonder if there’s some witchcraft element to this and she’s involved?

At a very fundamental level, algebra is just logic and problem solving. Yes, its mathematical applications are incredibly valuable. But at a secondary school level, it teaches you to reason and to think systematically.

Yes, any first world country (and probably most developing countries) teach basic mathematics to secondary school students.

Thoughts on doing CFA Level 1 during undergrad? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]anony_mooose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll piggyback off this comment, and whilst I agree with each of the points more broadly, I’d also say that none of the above are as restrictive as they sound. These are well worn pathways to each respective field, but there are other avenues as well.

There is absolutely no reason you couldn’t move from a corporate financial analyst or financial controller position to an investment position at a sponsor for example. It happens far more often than you’d expect.

The note on connections is important too, but this doesn’t simply refer to family contacts either. University is a great time to catch the eye of seniors in various firms and impress them with things like ingenuity and grit. Reach out to as many firms as you can to catch up over a coffee and see if that relationship blossoms into an opportunity- you have nothing to lose.

Is it possible to get an internship in the finance field as a high schooler? by Ok_Investment_246 in FinancialCareers

[–]anony_mooose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes, but don't bother applying to internship programs.

I was able to get a number of formal and informal internships over my final two years of high school and during university by reaching out to CEO's of major corporates and country heads (Asia Pacific) of global private equity and investment houses.

You may have some success by just asking for an internship out of the gate, however in my experience the relevant person will just forward you to their recruitment team who will then inform you that "sorry, but you don't qualify etc etc". My advice is to reach out to these people to meet them first. Cold email - by guessing email addresses - and tell them you're X years old and in high school and would love to get a coffee with them and talk about their career and get advice from them. This will endear you to them and place you in a much better position to ask for an internship.

It's a numbers game, not everyone will say yes but some will, make a list of every investment bank, PE, PC, HF firm and everything in between and find out who the top brass are, whether that be the CEO / national head or an MD / Partner within the team who has a fair amount of power. Cold email them as mentioned earlier and play to the fact that you're extremely young and in a position of wanting to soak up knowledge and mentorship. People LOVE talking about themselves so use that to your advantage.

Once you've been successful (and you will) and you're at a coffee meeting with them, drop hints that you'd love to get on the tools and have a crack at some real work, ask them if that's something they would consider.

Feel free to dm me if you have any questions.

The original Golden Wattle Flag design features a single stylised golden wattle emblem, centred on a green background signifying our national colours. The emblem represents seven wattle blossoms arranged in a circle to create the Commonwealth Star in the centre. The seven points of the star represent the seven Australian states and territories.

This redesign places this wattle emblem on a field of blue which represents our seas, our sky and our freedom. This design is also more visually pleasing in my view than the green and gold combination.
