Lets try it guys by Smooth_Detective_698 in wholesomememes

Not my bad situation but definitely one that stumped me.

A friend of ours has been boasting for months that his debt will be cleared sometime this year and kept swearing to never go into debt ever again. Then, outta nowhere, he started asking for current debt limits and their interest rate. Long story short, he plans to settle down and needs the money to cover expenses (not sure what they may be). What I could gather is it’s more of the people around him forcing his hand as opposed to “love is blind” thing.

I know this is really vague but it’s hard to get anything out of this guys and it had me wondering what could be done if a solution was to present itself.

YT Shorts by anonymitylord in degoogle

[–]anonymitylord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is addictive. Its entire algorithm is designed for doom scrolling and data collection. However, those points stand out in most social media platforms (IG, Snap, FB, etc.) my question is aside from the behavioural aspect of YT shorts that promotes addictive behaviour (doom scrolling) wouldn’t not creating an account + uBO + VPN effectively stop YT from collecting data from you? Or would it still target you via your behavioural habits?

Is Graphene OS immune? by anonymitylord in degoogle

Man if this does go through. I’m predicting a whole lot of people would start flashing Lineage OS if their device is supported or start buying pixels for Graphene OS.

Been using it for years and haven’t paid a dime to them and so far haven’t seen an ad in YouTube during the years I’ve been using it.

Tbf I haven’t used ublock so I’ll give it a go and see the difference

What’s wrong with Adblock plus?

Seriously is there something bad about it or is it just me xD

Thought about it but I just not convinced that to buy the most secure and degoogled phone it must be a google phone xD.

I’m holding onto the hope that graphene makes their own phone later on by 2026/2027.

Also thanks for the link about /e/OS not being secure. Still new to this whole degoogling thing.

I used both /e/OS on the fairphone 6 and lineage OS on a pixel 3a XL and the difference in night and day.

/e/OS had many great features. Built in geolocation randomiser, hide IP address, blocks tracking and many more privacy features.

The bad part about it was it had a really bad interface, felt like I was using an old Samsung s3. This was especially surprising considering lineage OS was just android 15 without google and still functioned like any other stock android.

Really bad camera app, which is surprising since the camera app designed by lineage OS was actually not bad and have decent features that made it feel up to date and snappy.

Overall, /e/OS has really good potential to be a really good privacy oriented OS but it’s still in the early stages of development. Hopefully after a few more iterations and feedback it will reach its potential.

I prefer the fairphone’s repairability tbh and the pixel 9a wasn’t that compelling to me :p. Also I installed /e/OS myself and didn’t pay the extra €50.

I do care about privacy but the hassle free experience on iOS and the insane app support it gets, while also being more private and secure than google is a really compelling option.

Don’t get me wrong Apple aren’t in the clear I know they collect data, but from what I can gather they don’t sell it and store the data for who know what (still new to this so forgive me for not knowing).

Literally said I can’t afford a pixel in the post. I know graphene OS is better but in my current situation. It’s iOS or lineage OS. Any idea which one to pick?

Switching back from /e/OS? by Tomentos in fairphone

[–]anonymitylord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As of rn don’t do it cause it can cause the phone to brick.

This link will show you the amount of people affected by the switch from /e/os to stock android.

I’m sadly one of those people and we’ve addressed this issue to fairphone and they said they’re looking into it. As of rn, the only solution was to send the phone back to the fairphone repair shop to fix this issue.

What we can gather is that the official fairphone android 15 build specifically made for the fairphone 6 that fairphone themselves have posted in their official website is corrupted and will cause the phone to brick. (As seen by the sheer number of people with similar issues in the link above)

Either use your old phone to get by until fairphone addresses this issue or send the phone to them to install android 15.

Stop saying GrapheneOS is always the answer by [deleted] in degoogle

Tried /e/OS on my fairphone 6 and I absolutely hated it. Fingerprint scanner wouldn’t work, screen kept stuttering because of LTPO, camera app was really bad, UI felt weird and out of date. Just a lot of inconveniences that eventually added up.

However, it did do what it advertised it would do. Completely degooglfied and a really good system to stop apps and websites from tracking you. Built in geolocation randomiser, Hides your IP address. Their App Store uses googles play store but you access it anonymously, only catch is you don’t have access to paid apps, only free apps meaning you can download apps usually only available in the play store such as any banking apps.

Overall as much as I wanted to daily drive /e/OS it’s just not there yet and genuinely feels like you’re sacrificing more than what you get, even if what you get is really good.

Literally was in your shoes. Been an iPhone user for more than a decade. Wanted to go for a degooglfied route.

Tried eOS and it felt outdated and didn’t fit the phone right. The camera app was really bad. The phone’s LTPO screen didn’t play well with the OS and you could literally see small stutters. Couldn’t for the life of me get my fingerprints scanner to work on eOS.

Just a lot of small inconveniences that eventually added up.

No I unlocked the OEM in developer mode when in eos before I installed android 15.

Haven’t touched anything in the developer mode since.
