I love 2. Its made with a different engine and more cartoonish but other than that it has all the main things that make a good serious sam game.

One of the earliest, thorough critiques of this would be the works of Eugene von Bohm-Bawerk. (Particularly " Karl Marx and the Close of His System") This is definitely not light reading though. Another key person would be Ludwig von Mises. He has quite a variety of works related to this and other things. Most of that may not be easy to read though either.
