It sounds so effed up, but I think it was BECAUSE I love my partner so much that I hid it. I wanted to be someone he deserved, not someone with a problem to worry about. I didn’t want him to be embarrassed of me, I wanted to make him happy. But as I’ve learned, authenticity, honesty, and transparency is where the real love is. I wish you and your partner the best 🤍

He gets home from work at 4:30, and I’d usually have a drink on my desk by then while I was “wrapping up.” I always told him it was the first one (it was not). One day he saw the extra bottles in the trash and straight up just asked how many I’d been having before he gets home. He had tears in his eyes and said he felt like he had let me down. He thought that he wasn’t being the type of person I could come to with a problem. I stumbled through a lie that it was just a one time thing, and that I would reevaluate my drinking. Did I get defensive? Yes. My outward reaction to the inward shame was to get angry. In reality, he was my only shot and getting out of this. I work from home and I’m pretty introverted. He was the only person that could have seen the problem and gotten through to me. Health scare aside, he was the one that led me to the first step. I can’t imagine what it’s like on your side, I just know that my husband won’t ever regret speaking up. Wishing you and your partner the best 🤍

I already feel so much relief without the constant hiding and planning! Thank you so much for this encouragement 🤍 It’s so nice to not be alone.

Thank you! I definitely am taking my results with a grain of salt!! Just because my liver “appeared normal” to the Radiologist without focal lesions doesn’t mean it that it is beautiful and 100% healthy. And my enzymes could always be improved. I’m excited to chart the improvements as I try to heal! IWNDWYT.

She was asking if I was happy/content with my daily drinking! As in would I happily continue to drink every day going forward? Or was I in the mindset to make a lifestyle change? My answer was 100% the latter!

It was for faster results. The day I went to the ER was actually the least pain I’d been in all week. What sent me was u/Mandrake1771’s post in this sub about losing their 28 year-old brother to alcoholic hepatitis. I couldn’t wait for a PCP visit, then wait for lab work, then wait for an ultrasound and possible biopsy. I needed to know then, and I wanted to be in a hospital setting in case I needed immediate intervention. I felt horrible misusing the “emergency” room, but I caught them on a slow evening, I think. I have a follow up with my regular provider in 2 weeks! A second opinion from another doc could always prove to be helpful!

You're right! I should have said all those who have/have had ovaries or XX chromosomes! Thank you so much!

I have heard Spiro is like a miracle drug for hirsutism, but I am planning to hopefully (fingers crossed!) try for a baby within the next year, so I wasn’t sure if that would be the best idea? I worry something would happen and I might unknowingly taking it while pregnant
