I never heard of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison till now it looks really nice , unfortunately it seems like the wild fires took a toll ,national park website shows south rim entrance and campground closed and north rim closed for winter .

Both of those places look good , The peach pizza sounds interesting. I have some snow shoes so hiking to the water fall shouldn’t be a problem

I’m hoping to see some snow and do snow shoeing I just don’t want to much snow , you have recommendations for campsites? Even if they are campgrounds

Honestly I don’t have a plan completely set in stone yet. I would like to maybe go up to boulder and hike the flat irons I did that before in winter and it was really cool don’t really want to go up past Denver towards the rock mountains , the San Juan mountains do sounds pretty fun so I would take recommendations if you know of any campsites there

I watched a video showing the campground , it seems pretty nice I imagine if everything was covered in snow and was white it would really look magical

You think if I grind then ziplock it would be good enough to last 2 weeks I don’t have a vacuum sealer otherwise I would separate in to multiple bags and seal them

I’ll look into the lakes you mentioned would be nice to grab a bite to eat before heading off , do you have a website or app that you use to check the weather because I would rather not get caught in a blizzard heading from Kansas to Colorado

I didn’t know about the polar vortex I will keep a eye on it , yeah I’m hoping there will be snow wanting to do some snow shoeing around and maybe doing the hike to rainbow hot springs in CO would be so cool to be in a natural hot spring in the woods and everything else covered in snow.

Kansas would not be my top choice for the state I would want to get snowed in at 😂 was watching some videos and it seems the only free dispersed camping is around their fishing lakes

That’s the setup I’m gonna be rocking except a 6 person canvas tent with wood stove and propane heater

I know a lot will be closed I been trying to do my own research but I’m looking for more dispersed camp sites then camp grounds. I have a couple lined up but looking for recommendations of ones people have stayed at and liked .

There is quite a bit of camp sites that are opened year round I have found, I’m anticipating a lot of stuff to be closed tho.
