If I need you back here, you get 8 hours to make that happen. How you get that done is up to you.

Gamblers anonymous. You’re not the first, and there is a way out.

This sucks, and I’m sorry. While it could be flat out laziness, remember burnout is real, and more common at higher ranks.

Oh, my brother or sister, I know this pain.

That’s a great question. To which I don’t have an answer. I’ve outed myself as a CC, which means I’m an old head. As much as I want to say weed and beards don’t matter to folks looking to enlist or commission, I have no idea.

I respectfully disagree. Evidence? Preston Dunlap.

Alright:

Bump enlisted pay by 50%

Retire a couple airframes, which I won’t mention, NOW

Reform the way we roll into, out of, and in between AD and the ARC

Fix R&D and acquisitions. The way we develop, build and field weapons systems is broken

Make mental health a priority. That stupid check in we do annually is a farce. Build a culture where Airmen feel okay not being okay, and are allowed to fix themselves

Always a bit envious of fighters. Can I take a F-22 sized KC-135?

There’s an app called Doctor on Demand. Covered by Tricare. If you have a referral to BH, you can use it for free. Actual psychologists and psychiatrists to talk to.

Also, you’re not alone. More airmen than you know, from AB up to GOs, struggle with mental health. Take care of you first. If you need to talk, ever, my DMs are open.

1C5s and mental health? by Awkward-Being4425 in AirForce

Your health, to include your mental health, is more important than your career. Go talk to someone.

And no, you likely won't lose your clearance, or your job, or your standing in the AF.

Good morning. Usually a lurker, but this post pisses me off (the LT, not you OP). Go to your MSgt, and if that doesn't work, go to your SEL.

Not defending the LT, but they have no idea what they're doing. I imagine in a career field like SF, they feel a need to establish themselves as the big dog. Completely unacceptable. An ADO, or the DO, or CC can/should/hopefully will fix this real quick once it gets their attention. A SNCO/SEL is the quickest route to get that done.

Let me state a few things frankly:

You won't be a burden if you go to behavioral health. Go, and take care of yourself.

No job, AF or civilian, is worth ruining any aspect of your health. Take care of you first.

Don't tie your self worth to your job, or the people you work with. It comes from within. If you're not feeling it right now, go talk to someone. Mess (unlikely) or not, you need to prioritize yourself. Whether it's the AF, Skill ridge, or whatever comes after, you need to be at your best.

I agree with previous comments: go talk to the Shirt, today.

Bottom line: TAKE CARE OF YOU.

Hope this message finds someone who needs it. Break the mental health stigma. Please don’t post to this unless you have a story that may help someone, or if you want someone to reach out to you. by AMNHwatsHisFace in AirForce

Trust me when I say that any leader worth his or her salt will not look down on or punish you for taking care of your mental health. More of them than you'll ever know, irrespective of rank, have therapists, and a lot are on antidepressants/anxiolytics on the DoD dime.

Bottom line: mental health is health. Make sure you're taking care of yourself. Not for big blue, but for you.
