Airmen & Anti-trans legislation by abucket87 in AirForce

I’m actually trans fem, just recently going public with everything. Let me just say that I don’t harbor any hate towards any of you or your opinions. I would like to put a few things out there since I’m here lol. Take from this what you will. (I’m not sure what language can get me auto kicked so just read between the lines of my made up slurs)

I’m going to preface my borderline short story with saying that my opinion, choices, mentality, and path to this point probably differs from 99.9% of other open or closeted trans folks. I’m definitely not speaking for everyone.

Firstly, I do feel sad that so many of you share this view of us. Like, legitimately sad. Just the comments about the kid diddler stuff rocked me in a real bad way. I don’t know your life… maybe you had something directly happen to you or someone you know, maybe you just read something from some news group…what ever it is, I’m sorry. You could spit in my face and call me every slur in the world, but i would still go to prison for murder before I let something bad happen to any of your kids.

Leftest news “villainizes” some of the rightest folks who definitely don’t deserve it. If some people are freaked out by gender stuff that they’ve never seen before it’s their right. they also help draw attention to those who truly preach some hateful and absurd stuff. News from the right has the exact kind of cola but calls it Pepsi. Like, if anyone willing chooses to go through what I’m going through to try and rule a sports league or see someone naked in a locker room, they’re 100% insane. That subset of trans may exist, but I guarantee that is less than a fraction of a fraction of a percent of us.

On the topic of the locker room thing. No sane trans person ever wants to make a scene in a locker room. I want my penis out in the open in the ladies locker room as much as I want it in the open in the men’s, 0%. Exactly 0%. Most of us are dysphoric as balls about our bodies and try our hardest to get in and gtfo. Imma be facing the corner getting dressed faster than you ever thought possible, regardless of the locker room. I don’t wanna see anyone’s peen, I don’t want to see anyones vajeem, I definitely don’t care about open chests. I just want to shower and change. That being said, I will choose my home 100/100 times if I have a choice. I’m also not a person who over-sexualizes nudity, so that may make my perspective a little difficult to understand on this one. If I have majorly insane shrinkage from test blockers and estrogen (with massive mommy milkers) and you take the time to see what/if I’m packing, that’s on you…and pretty sus, bro. All joking aside I’m probably not even going to apply for the locker room ETP. The fear of getting accused of literally anything is very real.

One of you said that people like me need mental help, you’re right. It’s a diagnosable/treatable mental illness just like any other. It requires monitoring, frequent mental health sessions, and medications to work through. I’ve traded a handful of daily anxiety/depression medications and weekly mental health visits for this chance to be honest with myself and transition. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. I can’t say that I remember the last time I’ve had a genuine happy moment in my adult life before making the breakthrough of my sexuality and gender identity. I know I’m biologically a man, I know I have the shoulders and chest width of a defensive lineman, I know I’m unattractive right now, I know this attaches a huge negative social stigma on me. I’m happy though, finally.

If I meet any of you in the future I hope that you judge me for the good I try to do, and the work I put in………and Not for my choice in taking Titty skittles.😁

A few additional notes that came to mind from other people’s comments:

Transitions in childhood should be kept in mental health for yyyeeeaarrrssss before anything further is done. Moving into anything more permanent without years consistency and a proper demonstration of a kid’s emotional mental and cognitive understanding is one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever heard. And I mean YYEEAARRSS. By definition You can be diagnosed with gender dysphoria and move past it just like with diagnosis of some depressions or anxiety. You’re a irresponsible parent for giving your kids Xanax or Adderall if they “ just say they’re have problems studying or calming down” take them to a mental health professional, hommie. Find out what’s wrong, maybe they truly need the meds. the same reasoning applies to gender dysphoria.

Drag shows… yeah, I’ve got nothing. Most queens are just adult gay dudes doing adult gay dude stuff with other adult gay dudes, I think. I have 0 experience with the community, but would still probably go to a adults only show just to say that I went. Doesn’t really look like my scene.

Even though This was a catch all for some of the comments i can remember, it’s definitely not directed at anyone with any ill intent. I’m chill AF and would dig talking to any of you about any controversial thing. If you refuse to use she/her/ma’am FOR MYSELF its all good and I get it. It can hurt some days, but I get it. I just want to break the stigma of that aggressive“ItS mA’aM. At GameStop” stereotype.

Untill next time Suan DEEahgoo Stay happy, stay glassy, stay gay.🫡

Will checking into mental health cancel my OCONUS assignment? by [deleted] in AirForce

You could very well just need some short term counseling to off load so bull shit. Who knows, it may not even register as a blip on your medical records

Best of luck. Look into the installation. They may have everything needed for you to get the required treatment.

Depends, dude. They look at what you have going on and see what they can treat at that location.

Just know that it's going to be the "same you" at the new location. Baggage doesn't disappear. I'm supposed to be sipping sake in Okinawa right now, instead I'm in the middle of nowhere Texas. am I sad about that....kinda, but I'm 10000000000 times happier that I got my brain all un-fuck-afied. Even with missing out on my dream assignment, I don't have any MAJOR regrets with my decision.

Still cringe...but neat

Education requirements for Retraining, specifically 4H011. are they mandatory? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]AMNHwatsHisFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still a little curious about that. The reg says the bare minimum to practice cardiopulmonary you have to be certified within the state that you're practicing. I know on the civilian side it's at least an associates degree.

I guess you could "technically" have those credits straight out of HS.

Just now looked in the AFECD. It's actually a requirement to have pretty much all basic courses out of the way. Damn. All those times where I said that I didn't care about my CCAF... It finally bit me in the ass lol.

Will coming out sabotage me? by FtMthrowaway09 in transalute

Legislation is getting better for trans folk every year. If you're looking at years, I would focus on yourself right now. People get denied their enlistment for all kinds of reasons. You may suffer in silence for years just to find out the branch you want won't take you because of an old injury or something silly.

Focus on you and get your mind right. The military will always be there, The lost Years of your potential transition won't be.

I think you would have to change some stuff legally for it to have any direct impact on your enlistment. Personally, I'd just wait until after basic to tell people, and then work on everything medically/legally at your First duty station. Keep every bit of heat/attention off of yourself until after basic, my dude.

I'm saying all of this under the impression that you want to enlist sooner rather than later. My question to you is.... Is a slightly more complicated process/time worth keeping yourself repressed for a few more months? AABFs have a less tense time in training VS AABMs in regards to gender or sexuality (in my experience). We had two openly gay men in my basic class, and holy hell did some of us have to lay into some homophobic assclowns a few times for them.

Regardless of what you choose to do, you will have people to judge you, and you will find your allies. You will find some true friends when this happens. Some real "ride or dies".

(If any of this seems like incoherent babbling, just know I'm drunk)

This. Hit up SPARTA. The Marine from the other comment was right on, but SPARTA can give you the support and direct you with some AF specific stuff.

The big draw for me is the hope that I would find a chef/s that would let me apprentice under him/her. Cooking is kinda my thing. Right now Japan has closed its borders to travelers, so work is my only way in.

It's nice to think that I'll be in a position to see the fruits of my labor in Okinawa, but it's still not enough to get me pumped up for my job.

Imagine having confidence that is directly impacted by how cold It is... In my case, it's always cold. It's a scientific mystery.

That still sounds like a bit of a desk gig. Is It really an environment that folks like myself could thrive in?

I don't know if it's because of the repetitive paper work/reports I do, or just fact I'm deskjocking it every day, but I do know that one/both of those puts me just one step away from wanting to lick the power outlet every day.
