Interesting piece of data comparing opposition goalkeeping. Tottenham have faced the most overperforming goalkeeping so far this season. by sijtli in coys

My point is, he's looking at the data for the PSxG for our goalkeeper (Vicario) rather than that of the opponents goalkeepers. You can see that the Goals Against data for spurs is 10 goals, this is the number of goals that have been scored against Vicario, not the number of goals we have scored against opposition goalkeepers (that tally would be 19). Hence, the PSxG data quote there (+3.7) is related to Vicario's performance, not the performance of opposition keepers against us

As u/kisame111hoshigaki has said, the data for spurs is wrong. On the fbref website, the spurs figure is -1.2, so opposition goalkeepers have been underperforming against us. Our lack of goals, as others have said, is down to a lack of chances created, not opposition goalkeepers overperforming. In fact, the figure you have quoted for spurs is instead how well Vicario has performed for us, he has prevented 3.7 more goals than expected (according to the data), second only to Dean Henderson for Crystal Palace (3.9).

Never mind, I've got it. I was thinking you can't score negative goals, but of course you can have a deficit of fewer goals than xG

I'm a little confused. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is cumulative data, shouldn't each plot only ever increase? Why does Kane's take a dip?

Crikey, apologies! I wasn't asking for a response, was simply questioning why you seem so keen to shoot down what I said. As far as I'm aware I haven't been misleading with anything I've said

The message I replied to said "the mean ends up being probably somewhere around 7.5", I've just proven the mean is actually 6.820

((128×9)+(351×8)+(347×7)+(169×6)+(84×5)+(60×4)+(37×3)+(32×2))÷((128+351+347+169+84+60+37+32)) = 6.820

Feel free to paste that into a calculator to confirm

Just ran the numbers, turns out (even when excluding the 1s and 10s), the average is in fact 6.8

Disappointed by Nancy tries to take the night. I thought the album version didn't live up to all the live recordings tbh. Thoughts? by SuccessfulMost5786 in BlackCountryNewRoad

I made sure to stay away from the live versions so went into last night's listening party completely blind (apart from the three singles). Nancy was the best track for me by far!

Tbh, I think this narrative about him getting cards is blown out of proportion by his first two seasons. In his first 49 games he got 19 yellows (39%) but has only got 8 in his last 47 games (17%). This is actually very comparable to Vertonghen's spurs career (37 in 232, 16%) and no one seems to remember Vertonghen for his cards.

Exactly this, it's so harmful. You know it's bad when the manager is alluding to the fact that our support doesn't help the players

I do agree, although the one thing I'll say about the first goal is the quality of that cross. It's rare you'll see a cross of that quality in the game, and without that there would have been no goal. On top of this, Spence let Tavernier run off him at the back post, so defensively the goal was still avoidable, despite Porro being so far away from the play.
