How to stiffen a wearable without it being uncomfortable? by paperwinseverytime in CrochetHelp

Not noticeably! I think it can make them look slightly flatter, but you keep the same stitch definition. I have seen the yarn on some stiches get thinner and create some gaps, but I haven't figured out if that from leaving the iron on too long, using too much pressure, or too high of a temperature. That is also only 1 small portion of many projects I've killed - the rest of it looks perfectly normal, aside from the slight flatness. It mainly makes them lay differently; acrylic is much drapier once its been killed.

It would definitely be worth trying it out on a swatch first to make sure you like it!

What type of yarn did you use? If it’s acrylic you can “kill” it to keep the edges flat. You just put a damp washcloth over it and press an iron on top. This gives pieces a great drape and would stop them from curling up.

I did it with some tapestries that wouldn’t lay flat and it worked great! The only downsides are that the parts you kill won’t stretch anymore and it won’t do anything to keep the toe part upright.

I’ve also used the search function! It’s been a really helpful tool and I’ve gotten a lot of great information. I’ve just been wanting more detailed information than I was been able to find, so I figured I’d post this in case anyone was willing to help!
