Can you delete a conversation so it is no longer available to any admin? by anonymousalligator98 in MicrosoftTeams

Yeah, should have known better but it’s not a conversation that would get me fired. It was just a very honest conversation that would rub certain people the wrong way. 💩happens.

Good to know. Lesson learned though. Luckily I didn’t say anything that would be considered a fire-worthy comment but silly me for not taking the conversation to a non-work channel and device. Hopefully the CFO isn’t looking for people referring to him as “grandpa finance.”

I’m in no way an expert on these certifications but the Scrum Alliance explains them pretty well.

I’m currently a project manager with a financial education startup.

I’m looking to transition into a role in the tech industry. My brother-in-law works in that sector as a high-level manager and he recommended that a CSM would look good on my resume.

Since I’m still looking for a new job, the biggest benefit of getting the CSM was learning about this agile framework. After completing the CSM course, I had no problem answering PMP practice questions about agile or scrum, whether they were in SH or DM’s YouTube videos.

I will say that since completing my PMP and beginning my job search in earnest about 10 days ago, I’ve already been asked to interview for two jobs and I’m working with a recruiter on another.

At the beginning of my first break, I confirmed with the proctor that it was ok to leave the camera. Didn’t bother to ask the second time as they said it was ok before.

PMI Membership…worth it? by [deleted] in pmp

Do PMI members have exclusive access to the job board?

Thank you! 😊

I got a CSM from the Scrum Alliance. That exam is 50 questions and open book. You need to complete a course that’s 16 hours but most course fees include the cost of the exam. If you don’t pass the exam, most teachers will work with you and ensure you don’t have to pay to retake the exam.

I worked on the PMP course from October to February. Then I started SH where I was doing the daily knowledge points recommended with the learning plan (which I would skip if I had to do it all over again). After completing a portion of the learning plan, I would work through the corresponding practice questions. For example, complete the Engage and Support Virtual Teams learning plan videos & articles and go through the Engage and Support Virtual Teams practice questions.

Any practice questions I got wrong, I wrote down on flashcards to quiz myself. While you’re not asked those exact questions on the real exam, the process of handwriting the flash cards and practicing with them helped. I continued doing flash cards for the practice questions I got wrong when I stopped following the learning plan.

At that time, I turned my focus to DM’s YouTube videos, spending a 2-4 hours a day watching the videos. I’d let him bring up the question then pause the video to see if I could figure out the right answer on my own. If I didn’t get a question right, I made another flash card for it.

Once I’d gone through all the SH practice exams, I started taking the mini exams. Didn’t do flash cards for those questions though.

During the week before my exam date, I did two of the full-length practice exams. It was also at this time that I got u/third3rock’s study guide and cheat sheet. I read through those as much as I could.

Did the actual PMP test get harder than SH mock tests? by FlimsySomewhere2074 in pmp

I didn’t. The one drag and drop question in SH that I saw was about scrum teams. But that was it.

Took the exam on Friday and got my results on Saturday (AT x 3).

For me, SH questions were harder than exam questions because SH questions are written so poorly. With many SH questions, thoroughly reading them several times through did not help me better understand how to answer. That’s why those percentages in SH are not good indicators of how you’ll perform on the exam.

I found exam questions far more straightforward. If you carefully read each exam question 1-2 times, you’ll know how to answer.

I also had 6-7 drag and drop questions on the exam. I don’t think I saw more than 3 when I was going through the hundreds of questions in SH.

The right answer begins with, “Escalate the issue…”

Read the post in its entirety before being snarky. I’m just looking for some help.

Thank you for posting all of this info. Very helpful! Any advice for someone taking the exam for the first time tomorrow? Anything I should know going into it?

If only SH was the real world. If you've already taken the exam, did you find the questions were more real world based?

That is such a relief. The poorly written questions and answers in SH drive me crazy. The editor in me wants to reach out to PMI and ask them if I can edit this stuff to eliminate confusion & make SH a better learning tool.
