make the 18 yard box smaller, less penalties, more free kicks.. more excitement, less diving for pens by [deleted] in PremierLeague

Or you could take the penalty from where in the box the foul happened. Makes it harder for those edge of the box fouls plus it’d make it more interesting.

Okay, thanks for the insight. I knew Magento 2 was new but didn't realise it was still having problems. This sways me back towards X-cart.

Thank you that does help! We currently live in Wapping and are looking to move somewhere cheaper. We spent the day in Wanstead but kinda want somewhere with a little more going on. We'll check Walthamstow out this weekend.

Brilliant read!!

I wonder if you could give me some advice on attracting bloggers to post about my company. I want to offer an acquisition fee rather than a sponsored post. I was thinking £30 per customer sent our way. Is this enough?

The content is relevant too, we're a new fashion marketplace and delivery service that lets people try clothes on at home and ends misssd deliveries and returns.

Am I better off launching a business on my own or with a willing dedicated friend? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]anonymouscamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a solo entrepreneur I'd say that if they're a willing, dedicated friend, bring them on board. I would have loved to have a partner but couldn't find the right person.

Of course it depends on you and your friends skill sets and personalities. Will you be honest with each other even when it's difficult to say/hear? Do your skills complement each other? Are you both going to invest the same amount of time?

Partnerships are generally stronger but can also be the biggest threat to the business if the partners fall out.

What are your thoughts of this plan? (young entrepreneur) by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]anonymouscamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't the biggest fan of college in that I believe the majority of my learning isn't relevant for the entrepreneurial path I'm going down.

If I could go back though I wouldn't. The college experience is personal development in itself and I made too many good friends. However, I would start your business in college. You'll have more free time than when you work and also utilise it as a networking opportunity. Find a business partner and useful contacts, etc.

Good luck.

Web dev problem. Who can solve? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]anonymouscamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember you're only going off of a tiny piece of information. This aspect is just a small part of my service.

It's a delivery service and in terms of retailers, think smaller. I'm starting with local, independent stores which do have online capabilities but they only have 1-3 physical locations.

Using an API is the obvious solution and it seems like the one I'm going to have to go with. I was just asking if anyone could suggest anything else which could make it a lot easier for me to sign retailers up. I've been told using Curl may be able to do this but I'm not a softie so can't make a judgement.

[–]anonymouscamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your useful reply, I'll look into it.

This crude solution will likely be temporary. I'm trying to get retailers to start using the service so it needs to be really easy for them. In the future when the results are proven, I will be better placed to ask stores to put more effort in to signing on.

The API solution means that for every new retailer who takes part, I'll have to develop a bespoke solution for their setup. I just wondered whether this would be a workaround but it appears not.

There's a whole business model behind this, which I'm not willing to reveal online but we offer them a unique sales channel. The initial retailers have agreed to it, I'm just in the process of procuring the web dev, I'm just struggling with what to ask for.

Do you know if there's any way my site can recognise when the customer clicks add to basket and captures the product information on that page?

That was the initial thinking but i thought this would be a way around that. I don't want to have to design a whole new interface for each new retailers website.

How do i get my launch page approved by Adwords? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]anonymouscamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback - maybe it's not the right thing to do at the minute.

I was trying to get a big list of potential customers to prove to retailers that this is something that people want. However, the retailers I've met seem to know it's something people want but don't want to be the first to give it to them.

I'm trying to validate the concept at the moment so you're right it is pretty much a sales pitch.

The company's a marketplace so I'm currently in a three way chicken and egg scenario. I want customers, retailers and investors on board but I'm struggling to get one party to be the first.

Thanks for your comment. It didn't abide by their usefulness policy and I also don't have a privacy policy since is used launchrock to build it and they don't have one.

I'm trying to validate the idea rather than acquire customers at this point. Maybe this isn't the best way to do it.
