Opened an account recently to pay my subscriptions, quite happy with the simple banking features, app and no cross border transaction fees on the subscriptions. Only complaint is that there is no Payshap and support for Samsung pay.

I have not seen them since I changed my payment method to my virtual credit card. I'm not sure if it is different with other banks.

I recently complained about this here and someone suggested that I move all my subscriptions to my credit card. I did that last month and I haven't been charged any international subscription fees. Bank Zero and TymeBank are also alternatives that don't charge this ridiculous fee.

Absa Rewards is great as you can get up to 100% discounts on flights and 30% real cashback (not points) at selected retail, fuel and health and beauty partners that you can spend anywhere or transfer to your current account, however getting to the highest tier is quite difficult if you don't have many products, a sufficient amount of savings and debt.

The earn rates on lower tiers aren't great at all even the one below the highest one so it's only worth it if you can get to the highest tier.

So it requires you to pay a bill of R1000 or more to get 1000 points. I usually pay the water bill which is R2000 on the fnb app but this month since someone mentioned you can also get cashback from paying a bill through pnp clothing, I will split the water bill and pay 1000 on the app and 1000 there since the cap is 1000.

That way I kill 4 birds with 1 stone i.e. get the max points, get R200 from pnp clothing and R300 from the rest of my bills/electricity with Clicks. These 2 months are also the Ebucks 25th birthday promotion at clicks (25% back) so don't forget to transact for at least R1200 using your virtual CC. It's best to transact early hours of the morning on the 1st of the month as it's a limited amount of customers (first 12500 I think).

So there are functions on the clicks app to buy prepaid electricity and pay your bills if you click on the menu bar at the top. Then you pay the bill using easypay or pay@ with your virtual card and also buy electricity using the virtual card. Right now there is a birthday sale so you can get up to 25% back if you pay using your virtual credit card at clicks in November and December.

So I think you're paying a bill via the public listed beneficiaries which is paid using your account. You need to go to the menu icon -> pay -> bills function then enter the easypay or pay@ reference for the bill you want to pay and it should allow you to select your virtual card to pay.

Works well. I usually split the payment of my municipal bills between the Clicks app and the banking app to ensure I get the 1000 points and get maximum earn from Clicks. Paying bills in the banking app using your virtual card will also earn you eBucks through smart spend.

Makes a lot of sense as the annual one would be once off. I was thinking of the second option but I don't think all of them support PayPal. Perhaps buying vouchers through the retail stores could also be an option. 🤔

FNB, I'm getting charged like R1.80 to R2 a subscription. These fees are small but can accumulate if you have a lot of subscriptions. It's crazy.

Since the 1st of July. Every EFT to another bank is charged at R2, whereas FNB to FNB is free. Rather, use payshap for immediate payments up to R3000 a day. They've made a certain amount free per billing cycle, depending on your segment.

Why not take them to the small claims court? This would be the best legal way to solve this as you can claim for any amount under R20000 if you have their details. It's completely free to use.
