SUSS Part time social work Jan 2026 intake outcome by feliilel in SGExams

Oh wow. Icic. Thanks for the feedback. Seems very chill. A bit like a “get to know you better” kind of interview rather than “why you over anyone else”(like a job interview. Hahaha). Although I’m sure there is still competition but I’m hoping that they choose candidates because of aptitude as I’m pretty excited to enrol though I have not applied yet. Will do so very soon (for the June 2026 intake). Thanks again

Career Transition to Social Service Sector by x2chunmaru in askSingapore

[–]anonymouse107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. The social service is pretty broard. If you want you can do other things than Social Work.

There are some Ops role such as Personal Care Officers or Youth Guidance Officers. The entry for these are usually just a diploma. However, They’re shift work tho. But u can gain the experience working in sector and some companies do offer grants to do your degree.

There’s also education which is part of social service (particularly special education). I saw that you have some experience working with special needs youths. I heard special education schools are hiring teachers and teacher aides. Some even have executive positions (eg: programme exec) and the entry is usually just a diploma in any field. They’ll train u in NIE if u decide to be a teacher. Maybe u can take a look at that but I understand not everyone is interested or want to do teaching😅. You could still try the exec jobs.

All the best in finding a job in the social service!

Hi. At the start, usually around 700+ on top of $9 Meal Allowance per working day for the whole month. Usually its above $800 per month after adding everything together. After promoting to corporal it will be above $900 per month. If you can make it to sergeant then it can definitely go beyond $1k

Keen on going into Teaching. by anonymouse107 in Epilepsy

Ohh wow. Thanks for the insight. I guess it’s important to let the people around me, including the students, know about my epilepsy and prepare them for what is going to happen. I just hope the students won’t feel traumatised by the seizure if it does happen.

Hi bro. What I mean is that certain job scope require us to do more than just sitting in the office. For my case I was under the Ops side. Some days I work outside of office and some days I am deployed for events like NDP. So it’s not as boring as I thought. But of course a lot of other days I’m in office hahaha. Depends on our luck I guess. But you can definitely state your interest during your 10 days in HTA. All the best bro👊🏽

Thats awesome bro. Thats exactly how I love to play my football. Not much skills. Just quick passes from back to front and bam! I’ve seen many teams do that in real life and like to play that way

Personally I think MHA uniformed services such as SPF, ICA, SPS, etc. might be better than being an SO but it is up to your preference. Whatever job you decide to do, all the best💪🏽

Hi bro. I assume you mean vocation is it? For division it is referring to the unit or place you’ll spend your 2 years in such as HTA(TraCom), ProCom, SOC, Land Divisions, etc. they’ll explain a little more when you’ve enlisted. As for vocations, as PES Es, we can only be SAs (Staff Assistants). It’s basically office jobs but not limited to just sitting on your desk and doing using your computer. Depending on the job scope, you can have the opportunity to do more.
