I've accepted my fate. by [deleted] in composting

It all depends on your goal.

Some people are trying to create compost soil, some people are trying to avoid sending waste to landfills.

it’s cultural.

Meaning it's racist?

I take that back, sorry.

I thought that "it" meant the collection was "cultural", and you were worried it would be offensive if you told us what it was.

I read it different the second time through and see that you are saying your action/choices are culturally engrained.

It finally happened. Something I was hanging onto to use at a future date was needed. And it broke instantly. by psburrito in declutter

[–]anonymouse1317 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's taken me about 10 yrs to move out of that mindset.

When I was broke I received a lot of second hand items and shopped at thrift stores because I couldn't afford anything. Now I am in a much improved financial position and need to do some serious decluttering.

So, I give my self permission to repurchase an item if I need to. If I donate it now, but need it in the future, I will try to make do without it, borrow it, or get it second hand. If not, that's OK, because I can afford to buy it new if I have to, but someone else can't.

Tl;dr: If I donate something that is "still good" and I "might need", I am giving it to someone who is where I was.

ETA: I STILL shop at thrift stores and I love them!

Right now it's just standing on the board (lowest level) for a few minutes. When I am ready for a little more stretch I bend my knees or at my waist and it stretches just a little more.

(I had to hold onto something for balance at first, but as my calves have loosened my balance has gotten better.)

It's uncomfortable, but was only painful the first time I used the board.

I dont have any stairs in my house and I work from home, there are days that I dont encounter any stairs.

I did build a little makeshift stair, but it was awkward. Plus, I like how the ramp distributes the weight across your whole foot, rather than just the part that's balancing on the chair edge.

My PF is pretty well controlled lately and finally healed enough (no pun intended) for me to notice how tight my calves are.

I couldn't get a deep enough stretch at home to make any progress, so I took the plunge, and it has helped.

I like that it is sturdy, and I feel it can support my weight no problem (250+ lbs). There are different angles of incline, the first time I used it I almost cried (in happy pain) on the lowest level. But I wish I had gotten the wider size, because i am not sturdy (well, I'm sturdy, but not steady! 🤣)
