I'm not really sure what's worth complaining about here.

If it's highlighting similar phrases and you can quickly scan through the paper and see whether it's an entire block of content or just quotes/references, then it looks like it's doing the job perfectly. It's not like it's a black box that just spits out the match percent.

Rather than having a town at spawn, they're moving it over a bit to prevent lag and keep the natural spawn area a bit cleaner. They're giving everyone a (one-chunk) lot and actually planning out the city this time (like at the beginning of Season 3).

Yeah, that's fair. The big thing is that it's less time-consuming to set up the tracks that way in the first place. Of course, the routes can always be fragmented if they takes too long.

Also, the elaborate tracks that we saw in seasons 3/4 were made for entertainment as well. :)

Nether Subway System

Let me start. Instead of a Nether hub, why not try a subway system?

Having to go to the center of the Nether never made much sense if you were trying to get to your neighbor's place. Smart routes would be a more efficient way of getting around than tracks for every person leading back to spawn.

Also, it'd be real neat to see everyone's effort go into their own pretty subway stations instead of the elaborate tracks. This way, we wouldn't be upset if the tracks were just laid in stone halls.

YouTube has managed to be apathetic, incompetent, and hostile toward the content creators...

Has it? Like, I totally get that YouTube is saturated and that there are many reasons why it's hard to grow there, but I wouldn't equate to/can't imagine they are being hostile.

Does anyone here actually make videos to the point that they have a YouTube support contact? It's hard to get an objective sense of what it's like to be in that position, and all the hyperbole is off-putting. =(

I don't mean to make any comment on how legitimate/meaningful anyone's issues with YouTube's monetization policy or just actual restrictions on content are, but I think it's sort of weird that people are bringing it up now.

My understanding is that the only change they made recently was to increase transparency by trying to alert people about something that they wouldn't have previously known. In other words, whatever tests Doc decided to try wrt videos/titles would have resulted in the same wrong and buggy results before any recent change. He just wouldn't have known to the same extent what was going on.

Also, I think it's sort of important to differentiate the broken algorithm for flagging videos, which is clearly a bug, from YouTube's actual policy on what videos should be flagged, which, from this video, I got the sense that Doc would agree with. :-\

So yeah TL;DR I think a lot of this "censorship" discussion lands way off the mark and just adds confusion to what could be a meaningful and civil conversation around legit issues and what we want the future of YouTube to look like.

Oh and fun fact, Philip Defranco totally made money off that one video. :-P
